"i thought you hated kids."

sicheng eyes were fixed on jace's phone screen as they were laying on bed, it playing a video of him and suji running around with wide smiles. unknowingly, the one holding the phone picked up the happy energy and physically displayed it too.

"i— i do. yes i do. surely."

"yeah, okay," he responded with a tone of sarcasm.

"well you say you do too but who was the one who bought a kid an entire bag of stuff she wanted in an hour? mhm, not me."

"i enjoyed it. besides, i never said i hated kids in the first place."

"you were agreeing with me saying i did days ago."

"no, i just let you rant about it."

as if she calculated the perfect time to attempt barging in within their conversation, a faint knock on the door before its opening echoed through their room. the very kid they talked about only minutes ago was standing there, clutching her stuffed elephant and squinting.

"can i sleep with you this time?"

they mirrored each other's warm beams. "sure!"

the pair slightly moved different ways to provide enough space for her in between. she plopped down in an instant.

she didn't anymore waste the opportunity to hug her favorite boy sicheng. still wanting to include jace though, she lay her left leg on top of him. the unfair position garnered his snarky reaction.

favoritism, jace mouthed. the other quietly laughed it off.

"i was," she yawned, closed her eyes, and continued, "really happy today. thank you."

her drifting off caused a contagion. with a few blinks and contained yawns, both men had fallen asleep too, their phones still on top of their palms.

amidst the homey feeling, their cat huihui, who was known to despise closeness to others, surprisingly jumped in with the three of them, staying there until daybreak.
