"you should sleep now. we'll go out early tomorrow."

the couple led suji back in the guest room where she was supposed to  sleep, tucking her in with her oh-so treasured stuffed elephant.

she asked, "where?"

"the park, maybe?" sicheng grinned the time she did. "we'll get ice cream and play around and we'll have loads of fun! so you should sleep for more energy."

"yay!" her joy given by the thought of  "but i can't sleep."

after momentarily racking his brain for ideas to ease her difficulty in falling asleep, sicheng was struck by one. "wanna hear a bedtime story?"

"yes please."

the male himself mouthed a go towards the other.

but you suggested it?!

i'm not good at telling stories.

jace did not know what to say nor do. the first stories that popped into his head were wattpad fanfictions that were had tones not appropriate for children, and he for sure did not want to ruin her purity for the second time.

"you wanna hear your mom and dad's story?" sicheng spoke.

that gained an even more priceless from the younger guy. "why the— ugh."

he pursed his lips, thinking.

"oh! have they told you about that one time they almost filed a divorce because there were rumors about both of them being raging homosexuals and not actually liking each other?"

she did not understand any of it though. "what's a divorce? and raging hom— homo? homosexual?"

"well . . uh . . you'll understand when you get older, i guess."

he nudged sicheng, whispering, "what do i say now? there's nothing more interesting i can think of for them than that considered divorce."

"i don't know. make stuff up? exaggerate like you always do!"

it sure was hard to come up with something to appropriately pique a five-year-old's interest.

"that's all?"

it took him a lot of time to make their story with elements he knew appear 'magical' (and mostly false). despite the difficulty, he was quite certain that whatever he was doing worked a little too well.

too well that her eyes were still wide open.

"yes."

"i'm not sleepy yet."

"goodness that was an entire novel." jace exasperatedly took a deep breath. "hm, what about me and sicheng's story? wanna hear it?"

she noticeably was still bubbling with energy. "sure!"

". . he kissed me in the parking lot in the spur of the moment and i kissed back and our argument was no more! now you see how i am such a who— i mean . . 'loverboy' . . for him. yes. 'loverboy', yikes. anyway . . . "

the pair was having way more fun with sharing than suji was. it was a chance of a lifetime, considering how nobody seemed to be as interested as she was with how they started.

"i don't know how he got that from, but he called me 90's housewife while i cooked eggs for him when we got wasted together the night earlier and like, i've become so so so in love with him since that day it just blew me away and i don't look like i love—"

upon hearing the child's soft snores halfway through jace's ranting, they noticed how they might've gotten carried away with their storytelling.

"she's sleeping," the one who also was attentively listening to the story whispered.

"she fell asleep wow. the disrespect."

"wasn't that the whole point?"

"yeah, but she slept on our story and payed attention to the johnchia one like?" he rolled his eyes. "why is she so interested in her mommy and daddy's relationship anyway? they basically just got high, then hooked up, then got married like, an hour later. it's not that special compared to ours. i just told everything in a way appropriate to kindergarteners."

"i—"
