Three months have passed and it's my birthday in three days. Mia is hosting a small party at her house tonight and because it's my eighteenth she said I have at least one day to get over my hangover so that's why it's today.
We went out shopping and I got a lilac silk dress with spaghetti straps that came to just above my knees while Mia got a red flowing dress of the same length. Everyone arrived at her house for nine even though it was just the four of us.
We had a few drinks and something little to eat before we went around the city to some of their favourite clubs. I had a beyond amazing evening and ended up staying at hers for the night. The following morning my head was pounding against the inside of my skull and my stomach was churning up everything I have eaten in the last twenty four hours.

It's now a day before my birthday and I'm packing to go to London for the weekend. I go through my checklist stuffing everything into my beige suitcase sitting on it so I can do the pearly silver zip up. Thomas offered me a lift to the airport so I met him at the coffee shop as I still haven't told him where I live. Just like Mia thought, he mentioned how he didn't like that area and that it's the worst part of the city.
We talked endlessly in the car ride there with our usual drinks. As we arrive I get out and he walks me to the terminal. As we wait for the plane to arrive he sits quietly like he's nervous about something. Agitated by an invisible force.
"What's up? You've barely spoken since we arrived." I look at him taking his hand in mine.
"Nothing." He shakes his head then looks at me and smiles. "I won't get to see you on your birthday so I will give it to you now." he pulls his hand away from mine and reaches in his pocket, rustling around for a while before pulling out a small, flat box covered in a brown and red polka dotted wrapping paper.
"Here." He hands it to me smiling. "Happy birthday."
"Thank you." I squealed, jumping up and pulling him into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he wrapped his arms around my waist gently resting his face in the crook of my neck. I can feel his soft breathing skimming the surface of my skin as his heart beats against mine. In sync.
I pull away looking deeply into the hazel pools of joy and selflessness. The biggest smile grows over my cheeks as I pull him closer to me, smashing my lips against his. One is his hands glides around my back and rests on my hip as the other pushes me towards him. Our lips move in sync, perfectly timed like our hearts.
The kiss, the moment, is broken by a loud booming voice echoing through the speakers of the waiting room announcing the plane had arrived and it was now time to board. I pecked Thomas's lips again before grabbing my carry on bag and running down the hallway.
I turned back looking at him with a smile as he waved to me and I blew a kiss back at him which made him laugh lightly. I sat down in my seat buckling up the belt then turning to face out the window. I watched the plane take off before leaning my head against the window and falling into a deep slumber.
I arrived a bit later walking back through the hallway into the waiting room. I got to the baggage collection point and got my suitcase dragging it behind me as I left the building. I am hit by a chilling breeze but am happy I'm home.
"Amber!" I spin my head to the side to see Blake running at me from a black taxi cab. I drop my bag and kneel down to his height as he wraps his arms around my neck. "You're finally home!" he shouts in my ear as I squeeze him tightly like if I let go I may never see him again.
"Amber, so glad you are finally home." I look up to see my dad. I let go of Blake and jumped into his arms. Blake hugs me around my waist as my dad puts his arms around both of us. A family bear hug. We take the taxi back to our house. I carry my stuff up stairs and flop down onto my bed. Nothing has changed since I last came. Later that night we watch a movie together then Blake insists that we play twister as he says he's been practicing.
My dad spins it as me and Blake play. He is better than last time so the rounds last much longer. The game ends in fits of laugher as he falls down knocking my only leg that was keeping me up. By the end of the evening my cheeks were aching from smiling. I tucked Blake into bed then said goodnight to my dad. I wrapped myself up in my duvet then fell asleep for the night.
I am woken up in the morning by Blake who is hitting me around the head with a pillow. The perfect way to get up. I push myself up to lean against my headboard as my dad walks in holding a cake with eighteen candles on it. He hands it to me as I place it on my lap. It's a chocolate cake with white butter icing. Around the rim of the cake is crushed up oreos and across the middle in black writing it says happy birthday Amber Rose.
"... to you." They finish singing as I blow the candles out and make a wish. They take the cake outside as I change into clean clothes and check my messages.
I have sixteen messages from Mia singing happy birthday one word at a time. I have one message from Ethan saying happy birthday, and a couple people from work wishing me a good day. The last message I open is from Thomas. He has written a long paragraph saying he hopes I have an amazing birthday, I deserve it. This warms the heart I have in my chest to hotter than a furnace.
I skip downstairs nearly missing a few as I enter the kitchen ready to start my birthday.
