Christians - Remember Why
It's a New Year
January 4th, 2013
I read a small story once called "The Living Room", I just want to quickly summarize it for you.
This man was trying to describe what giving your life to Christ was like. He said imagine you're inviting your new friend into your house (The new friend is Jesus). He says that you are always gone and that He misses you. So you say, well let's meet every morning before work for 1 hour in the living room. And everyday you meet with Him, but then you are so busy you start to skip the meeting. When you are dashing past the door to the living room, you see Him sitting by the fireplace, He still showed up every morning even when He knew you wouldn't be there. Finally, you go in one morning and apologize, you wonder why He didnt just go back to bed and He says, "Because I love you and I love spending time with you. I am true and faithful to My word, unlike you, I have come every morning. It hurts when you do not visit Me." The man was ashamed of himself and he begged Jesus to forgive him, which of course He did.
You see, Jesus wants to spend time with you, you are God's child after all, He loves you more than you would know. And when you can't spend just a small amount of your day with Him, how does that make Him feel?
Pray this out loud if you wish
I am sorry I've left You in the living room while I am enjoying everything else in my day. Please forgive me for not spending time with You after everything You have done for me. Help me find my way back to You and help me spend time with You everyday of my life. Thank You, Father. I love You.
It's in the precious name of Jesus that I pray, Amen
White Flag by Chris Tomlin
A battle rages on
A storm in temptest roar
We cannot win this fight
Inside our rebel hearts
We're laying down our weapons now
We raise our white flags
