"You're acting super strange y'know?" Kageyama huffed, being crouched down to Hinata's level so the orange haired boy could hug him without having to tippitoe.
If we're all being honest, it was strange. There was no reason Tobio could think of for Shoyo to be here this late at night, and clinging to him like a bug on a tree. "You don't have a fever do you?" He placed his palm up to the smaller boy's head, putting this odd behavior up to delusions from a cold.
"No, I don't have a fever!" Hinata got a bit defensive, swishing Kageyama's hand away from his forehead. Kageyama just looked at him with an annoyed look on his face. "Anyways, I just wanted to see you but I have to go now!" He waved to the taller boy, and started to climb back out of the window.
"Aren't you just gonna stay the night? It's late after all." Kageyama asked before the smaller boy could exit out the window. Shoyo was debating it after finding out his newfound feelings for Tobio but, he realized he still had to go back to the hospital. Otherwise, his mom would find out he's been constantly sneaking out and she'd watch over him like a hawk.
"Mm, I can't, sorry!" Hinata smiled, dashing out of the window. He disappeared into the night as if he was never here in the first place. Kageyama was a bit confused but, he just closed his window and decided to get ready for the night.
The next morning...
"So Doctor, any progress?" Hinata's mom asked during the smaller boy's daily checkup. The doctor told her that there would be no sign of progress of Shoyo getting better but, she didn't want to give up. She refused to accept the fact her son was getting worse.
"Like I said ma'am, there is no sign of any positive progress with Shoyo." The doctor sighed, disappointed that he has to constantly tell a child's mom that her son wasn't going to get better. "I wish I could tell you there was but, my job as a doctor is to tell it how it is." He gave all three of them a sympathetic look after watching Hinata's mom and sister sigh in despair.
Shoyo on the other hand was thinking of something else.
'Of course I've seen him shirtless many times but, LAST NIGHT WAS GREAT!' Shoyo squirmed around in his mind, recalling the sight of a fresh-out-of-the-shower Kageyama.
"Hey Shoyo, are you paying attention to what the doctor is telling you?" Shoyo's mom tapped the dazed out boy on his shoulder, semi-chastising him. Hinata in fact...was not paying attention to the doctor.
"Yes, what were you saying?" Shoyo forced out a chuckle, signaling the doctor to repeat what he's said again. The doctor looked at him with a annoyed look on his face, despite knowing Hinata for a long time. He knew that the smaller boy always had something else swarming around in his mind.
"Like I said..." The doctor cleared his throat, "I know it's your spring break, and I know you want to have fun with your friends but, you need to take it easy. Of course, you are still on bedrest AND your mother needs to approve but, you are ultimately free to go out and have fun." The doctor told Shoyo who was planning to do that anyways. Permission or not. But it felt great to get the confirmation from the doctor.
"Of course!" Hinata gave him a reassuring thumbs up, hitting him with that warm smile. The doctor gave all three of them a smile and nod, taking his leave to go and deal with another patient. Shoyo stared at his mom with those big eyes that practically read, 'let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go!'
"Well, I guess it's okay if the doctor said so...but don't do anything to hurt yourself!" His mom pinched his smiley cheeks, as he was joyous that his mother gave him her permission.
"Awww, you're the best!" Shoyo squeezed his arms around his mom, eagerly.
"Yeah, yeah, you are too. Come on Natsu, come run errands with me." His mom beckoned the small girl with orange hair.
"Bye Shoyo! Don't die on me okay?" Natsu giggled, skipping out of the room to follow her mother to the grocery store. Hinata gave her a small wave, and reassured her that he won't die until he's an old grandpa.
But once again, another empty promise that he wasn't sure he could fulfill.
'Soooo, what to do now?' Hinata blankly thought to himself, sitting quietly inside an empty hospital room. 'Hmmm, there's a chance I might die sooo...I'm gonna do everything I've always wanted to do!' His eyes suddenly brightened up with this idea even though there was nothing good about the idea of him dying. 'Heh, I know who to call.'
---
"Hinata. Why are we in the middle of a field?" Kageyama stood there in bewilderment, wondering why the smaller boy would drag him out to a field filled with dandelions.
'He's finally snapped didn't he?' He thought to himself, thinking that Hinata brought him here to kill him or something.
The breezy wind was blowing both of their hairs into their faces, just like a pretty scene out of a movie. The sun was brightly beaming down on the two of them, as if they were both in a spotlight. No one was there but them.
"I've always wanted to come here!" Shoyo exclaimed, his eyes sparkling under the burning sun. It looked like the sun was reflecting off of a beautiful brown crystal that it actually caught Kageyama by surprise.
"But...it's just a dandelion field. Why'd you want to come here so badly?" Kageyama asked the shorter boy, genuinely confused.
"Stop asking questions, come on!" Hinata let out a carefree laugh, dragging Tobio by the wrist more into the field. Hinata was like a water droplet under the sun. He was shining from all corners of his body, blinding Kageyama from the brightness. The shorter boy looked so at ease and radiant. Something the taller boy always noticed about Shoyo.
But something else was tugging at Kageyama's mind.
'Why does it feel like I've been here before?'
