New

I did something new today,
And my day wasn't so grey,
My heart wasn't so broken,
And my thoughts, a little spoken.

I did something new today,
I stood up and had my say,
A smile crept onto my lips,
And my heart did a few flips.

I did something new today,
I didn't hide out of the way.
I wondered around,
Not staring at the ground,
Not safe and sound.

I did something new tonight,
I didn't listen to the fight,
I walked away,
And did as I may.

I finally saw some light,
My eyes are glinting and bright,
I'm putting up a fight.

I did something new tonight,
My life's no longer shite,
I've done a lot of new things,
I've finally grown some wings.

I spread my wings and took flight,
