The look on Ryan's face gave off the vibe that something is terribly wrong. Even more so that the screams keep getting louder and louder by the minute. Each scream is like a stab to my ears and back making me cringe in pain. I cover my ears the best I could, but it was no use. My eyes were sealed shut as my breathing became frantic as I took in short gasps of air. My brain felt like it was about to explode any minute now and I wanted nothing more than for the screams to stop. Never in my fourteen years of living, had I encountered such a situation and it scares me to death that I had no idea what to do.
I look around to see my father and Ryan talking rather fast but I felt so sick that I couldn't even make out what they were saying. I let out a loud whimper as the excruciating pain gets to the point to where I would gladly accept death. I doubled over as another wave of pain hit me.
Hot tears streamed down my face as I tried my best to stand up. Almost making it back onto my feet, pain hit me again. A loud scream left my mouth and without a care to the world, I let my body crash to the ground. I closed my eyes waiting for the impact of broken glasses piercing into my skin to come, but it never did. In fact, electrifying waves of shock ran through my entire body making the pain go away. Replacing the pain was pleasurable tingles. A light, airy gasp escaped my dried and chapped lips as I realized one thing.
"Mate!" The voice from earlier spoke up again in my head and just hearing that simple word, sent my heart into a frenzy.
I opened my watery eyes to find a beautiful shade of golden brown with small specks of green around the pupil staring at me as large, warm hands encircled my waist. I looked away from my mate's eyes as I took in his portrait. I saw the one guy I never expected to be my mate.
His face held no emotions as we both stood in each other arms. Isn't he happy that he found his mate? Sensing my confusion, Ryan slowly let go of me and placed me back on my feet and took a few steps back. I stood there completely dumbfounded while watching Ryan pinch the bridge of his noise and let out a annoyed sigh.
"Look, um...." His deep voice made a shiver run down my spine but I didn't let that faze me. Well, for now actually.
"Delilah." I stated my name rather proudly as I straightened my back.
"Okay Delilah, well how do I put this....." He lamely says while rubbing the back of his neck. He then looked at me dead in the eye with a pitiful glance as a small scowl forms on his perfect sculpture lips. "We are never going to be mates. I'm not ready for commitment and, well, if I was, then you wouldn't be the ideal mate for me. I need a strong, beautiful mate as a Luna who can put up a good fight and be able to lead a pack. Not a little girl who's nothing but the pack servant and young enough to be my little sister."
Tears brimmed in my eyes but I kept my mouth shut. The one person who was supposed to love me unconditionally, save me from this hell hole, and grow old with me, was now rejecting me. I waited four fucking years for my mate to come and save me but now that the time was right, he rejected me!
I angrily wiped away the tears and with as much courage as I could muster, I gave Ryan the most menacing glare. "If that's how you see it, then fine. I accept your rejection but just know one thing. Later on in life, you're going to regret doing this to me. You may not believe me yet, but just watch and when you finally realize how much you need me, I will never forgive you Ryan, ever." I finished off by slapping him across the face and stomping away towards the exit doors.
Walking down the empty hallway, millions of questions swarmed in my head.
How am I going to survive the rejection?
