"My mom's making me stay home from school, so tell Coach I won't be there!" Hinata told the taller boy as they ate the breakfast Shoyo's mother laid out for them. "I'm sure they don't expect me there anyways." He chuckled, stuffing a piece of toast into his mouth.

"Yeah, no. I was wondering if I could stay with you?" Kageyama bluntly asked, surprising the shorter boy.

"Oh, why would you want to stay here with a sick person?" Hinata intriguely questioned, looking over at Tobio who was also eating a piece of toast with butter. "Plus, you can't fall behind on your work more than you already are!" He taunted, the only one finding his comment amusing. Tobio ended up shooting daggers at the smaller boy, annoyed.

"What's the fun in practice and school if your annoying ass isn't there?" Kageyama scoffed, wavering between a compliment and an insult. He also wanted to more about the sickness Hinata was dealing with.

"Welllllll, you have to ask your mom first." Hinata smiled, pretty happy that Kageyama wanted to stay by his side. He knew it'd be boring all by himself.

"Yeah, yeah, I will. She'll probably approve since it's you." The darked haired setter sighed, recalling how fond his mother was of the orange haired boy. She always said that she always admired Hinata's upbeat energy and heartwarming smiles.

"Yeah, your mom loves me doesn't she?" Hinata proudly smiled, forcing an eyeroll out of Kageyama. "Well, let me know what she says!" He beamed, standing up and going off to the bathroom.

Kageyama could feel an subconscious smile growing across of his face. He tried to slap on his usual frown but, the smile wouldn't fade. He oftenly felt it happening while he was around Hinata but, he didn't know the reasoning. He just left it up to Shoyo's contagious smiles because, everyone smiled around him. But, something was different about this time.

And he couldn't really place his finger on it.

Anyways, Kageyama dialed his mother like Hinata wanted, "...Hey mom."

---

"This...that...and...BAM!" Hinata cheerfully exclaimed, beating the level he was on. A few days ago, he borrowed Kenma's nintendo, and didn't have a chance to return it yet. It was okay though, since the doubled colored haired boy said that was his older version (but he still wanted it back). "Hey Kageyama! Wanna try?" He looked up to the bed where the taller boy was laying, scrolling through his phone.

"I'm good." Kageyama shortly replied, not looking up from his electronic device. "You do know staring at blue light for a long time is bad for your eyes?" He informed the shorter boy, talking about Shoyo but, he was doing the same thing with his own phone.

"My eyes are perfectly fine!" Hinata stuck out his tongue, "plus, you're being a major hypocrite right now, stupid Kageyama." He added, aggravating the dark haired boy laying on the bed.

"You little brat." Kageyama gritted through his teeth, forcefully shoving his hand down onto Shoyo's orange hair. This startled the smaller boy, eventually squirming and trying to wriggle free.

"AIYYAAIYA!" Hinata made a bunch of strange noises, trying to crawl and escape from Kageyama's force. But no, the taller boy still held him strenuously under his palm, not letting him escape. For a second there, both boys forgot about the orange haired boys illness, as they strained themselves like they usually would. "Okay! Okay!" He laughed, wanting to tap out.

"You give up?" Kageyama jeered, still having Shoyo in the grasp of his palm. Hinata desperately nodded, in a mix between pain and amusement. The taller boy let go of Shoyo, seeing the smaller boy roll onto his back.

"Gee, you're so harsh Kageyama." Hinata laughed, rubbing the top of his head because it was a bit sore because of the taller boy's force.

"Well you're annoying, you dumbass." Kageyama scoffed, flopping back onto Hinata's bed. He turned his phone back on but, Shoyo quickly snatched it out of his hands. The taller boy looked at his hands in confusion, not knowing where his phone went for a split second. Than he saw the orange haired boy with his phone in his small grasp. "Hey! Give that back!" He grumbled, trying to grab it back but, the smaller boy was too quick.

"I'm bored, let's go practice a bit outside!" Hinata beamed, grabbing one of his volleyballs laying on the floor. Kageyama looked at him in disbelief, not knowing how he had so much energy when he fainted the day before.

"No, you're still sick." Kageyama pointed out, smacking the volleyball out of the smaller boy's hands. "That's the whole reason you stayed home from school."

"But-" Hinata was going to plead but, Kageyama wasn't budging.

"You're. Still. Sick." Kageyama emphasized his words, flicking Shoyo in the center of his forehead. He sounded like an overbearing parent but, Hinata knew he was right. He just didn't want to stay home and do nothing. "Either eat some soup, or go to sleep and shut up." He frowned, palming the smaller boy.

"Meanie Kageyama!" Hinata harshly pouted, glaring at the taller boy who was laying on his bed. Kageyama could feel the heat of Shoyo's eyes burning into his bare neck but, he still wasn't going to give in.

Eventually, the silence caused Hinata to grow tired, as he drifted off to sleep. Kageyama didn't hear the smaller boy stubbornly pouting anymore so, he looked over the bed and caught a glance of Shoyo sleeping on the floor. Tobio just gazed at the boy who was peacefully sleeping for a while, until deciding to do something.

'What am I even doing?' Kageyama sighed to himself disbelief, as he suddenly found himself carrying the sleeping boy in his arms. He gently placed Shoyo onto his bed, not wanting to wake the shorter boy up.

Tobio never would've thought he'd ever do something like this.
