"Don't tell me you idiots raced over here, again." Tsukishima scoffed, alongside Yamaguchi. They were both staring in disbelief, watching Kageyama and Hinata run in, panting and heaving from their sprint to the gym.
"Okay, we didn't!" Hinata answered, wiping the obvious sweat from his forehead. "Anyways, why are you guys here so early?" He asked Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, seeing as they were the first ones to the gym. That was pretty odd because normally those two arrive on time, not early. (Mostly because of Tsukishima urge to never show up to practice).
"None of your business shortstack." Tsukishima belittled, not giving an answer to Shoyo's question. 'Gah, this is all your fault Tadashi.' He annoyingly raised his glasses with his index finger like he always does.
"Gee, don't have to be so rude Tsukishima!" Hinata pouted, already up to his 5'4 self with the tall, blonde boy.
"Let's go, Tadashi." Tsukishima beckoned the dark haired boy next to him, going to the other end of the court to stretch. Yamaguchi trotted behind the taller boy, following like a little puppy.
Instead of stretching and all of that, Kageyama and Hinata went over to start setting up before everyone else got here. After putting up the volleyball net, and getting out the ball rack, all of the other teammates started to file in. One after another, the gym started to fill up with chattering and laughter from the energetic Karasuno boys.
"Alright, start getting things set up for the spikes and set practices!" Coach Ukai loudly told the Karasuno boys, commanding them to start up their usual warm-up.
"Kageyama! Hinata! Get over here!" Nishinoya called out to the two boys who was about to start their sets and spikes warm-up. The boy with the blonde strip was standing next to Tanaka, looking all flustered and focused about something. Kageyama and Hinata jogged over to their two upperclassmen, wondering what they wanted.
"Tanaka, Noya, what is it?" Hinata curiously asked Tanaka and Nishinoya. Both second-years looked at each other, about to ask the other two boys their question.
"We need your honest opinions..." Nishinoya crossed his arms, closing his eyes and turning his head to the left.
"If we were both to get into a fight..." Tanaka continued on, almost completing his and Nishinoya's question.
"WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD WIN?!" Nishinoya and Tanaka both loudly shouted at the same time, startling Kageyama and Hinata. The two second years both anxiously waited for an answer, Tobio and Shoyo looking at each other in confusion. "Helloooooo, answerrrrr!" Noya impatiently tapped his foot on the court floor.
"Tanaka."
"Noya."
Both Kageyama and Hinata answered two different responses, making Tanaka and Nishinoya sigh in despair. They didn't expect to get two different answers from the two first years, so they just thanked Tobio and Shoyo for their opinions, slugging onto the court.
"Oi, you good?" Kageyama asked Hinata who looked like he was staring in a spaced out daze. "It was just a question, no need to get so worked up about it." He scoffed, also joining everyone else onto the court. But it wasn't the question that got Shoyo into a strange daze. It was something else, something he didn't quite know of yet. "HEY HURRY UP DUMBASS!" Tobio's voice boomed, calling the smaller boy over to the court, and snapping him out of his daze.
"Stop shouting Kageyama! I'm coming!" Hinata yelled back, running over to the rest of his teammates on the court.
As the team started to workout and train, everyone worked out their hardest because of the defeat against Seijoh. Speaking of working out hard, Shoyo especially worked himself to the bone. He still blamed himself for the loss, so he maxed out, making sure he wouldn't make that mistake again. It was setting and spiking practice for all positions so, Kageyama and Hinata was partnered up.
But one mistake always leads to another.
"Hinata! Get it here!" Kageyama shouted towards Hinata. The oranged haired boy was about to jump for the set but, his legs were glued to the floor. His legs couldn't move a muscle. It's like someone had just weighed them down with 10 ton weights.
The ball ended up hitting the floor, making everyone turn their heads towards Shoyo and Kageyama. During this whole practice, the two boys haven't missed one set or spike. So it was a bit random that this time, they let it hit the floor.
"Oi moron, what are you doing?" Kageyama questioned the shorter boy who wasn't moving a muscle. It was like someone had paralyzed Hinata, as he was just standing there in a sweat.
"Hinata? Are you okay?" Daichi asked from the back of the court where he was spiking with Sugawara.
Before Shoyo could answer, his vision started to go blurry, as his head also felt dizzy. His throat was closing up, preventing him from responding to the team's captain. His legs were about to give out, and his arms felt like someone had crushed them under a car. It was a pain-aching feeling he knew all too well. This was one of the moments where he wished he had listened to his mom, and took it easy.
It was because of the disease that was burdening him.
"Hinata?" The rest of the team started to get concerned from Shoyo's lack of response. Still unable to respond, the feeling of his legs about to gave in came to life. The smaller boy's vision went black, as he could feel himself slowly falling backwards, about to hit the solid floor.
"Oi, Hinata!" Kageyama sprinted over to Shoyo, catching the smaller boy before his limp body hit the gym floor. The orange haired boy was knocked out cold, laying unresponsive in Tobio's arms. 'Crap, what the hell?' He panicked, placing his hand on the surface of Hinata's cheek.
"Hinata!" The whole team exclaimed, rushing over and surrounding both boys on all sides. "Hey, someone call the ambulance!" Yamaguchi flipped out, he and everyone else concerned about the smaller boy.
"It's okay, I'll carry him back to his house." Kageyama faltered, lifting the unconscious boy onto his back. Everyone just quickly agreed, helping Shoyo onto the taller boy's back, clasping his legs around Tobio's waist, and slinging Hinata's arms over his shoulders. 'Damn Hinata, what's going on?' He tightly held onto Hinata's arms, effortlessly carrying him out of the gym.
The whole team watched in concern as the two boys started to get smaller and smaller into the distance. They all decided to call off practice because of this incident, as they were too worried to go on.
'Hinata...what happened to you?'
