While I was examining my classmates, I noticed something odd. A sort of weird presence, or... pressure or something. I looked behind me yet again, feeling a strange sensation of being watched, and I noticed another student who I hadn't seen before. Besides the fact that his hair was split down the middle into two different colors, he didn't stand out much at all. I saw that his eyes were also two different colors. And that, before they returned to staring down at the paper the boy was working on, they had been directed straight at me for a solid fifteen seconds.

Somewhat confused, I hesitantly turned back to the front of the room.

That was weird, I thought. Wonder what his deal is.

I might've analyzed the situation a bit further, but I never got the chance. As soon as my eyes were facing the front again, the blaring sound of the lunch bell filled the room and interrupted me.

I stood, ready to allow my reflexes to take over, until I remembered that this was a new school and that my reflexes might as well take me over a cliff, for all they'd be worth. I glanced around warily, hoping to be able to silently follow the rest of the students to the lunch room without incident. I was considering just stalking behind the cute, quiet girl with the purple hair until I got to the lunchroom when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun around and saw the little green boy again.

"Hey, (L/n)! Would you like to have lunch with me and my friends? I just figured you wouldn't want to be alone with nobody to talk to," He said, his eyes sparkling with interest.

Well, I actually couldn't care much either way, to be honest. But I might as well take every opportunity I can to get to know my classmates...

"(L/n)?"

"Huh? Right! Yeah, I'd love to."

I sighed. I really should pay more attention, shouldn't I?

The green boy smiled wide, drawing my attention to the freckles on his cheeks. Kind of cute, this one.

"Great! We'll show you to the lunch room."

The green boy and his friends started walking towards the door. It was only as I was heading to lunch with them that I realized I didn't know their names. I decided to ask the brunette first; She was probably friends with the other girls in class, and I was quite interested in getting to know that girl with the headphone jacks. I tapped the girl on the shoulder to get her attention.

"Hm? What is it?"

"I was just wondering what your name is... I only know Iida's."

"Oh, of course! My bad, I should've introduced myself earlier..." She said, smiling apologetically. "I'm Ochaco Uraraka, and the boy with the green hair is Izuku Midoriya."

I nodded, making a mental note of their names.

"I'll try to remember those... They're both pretty long last names."

Uraraka waved her hands dismissively.

"If you want, you can just call me Ochaco. I can't speak for those two, but I'd like it if we could be friends, so I'm okay with you talking to me on a first name basis."

Despite the fact that this was supposed to be a good thing, I couldn't help feeling a sense of apprehension creeping up on me at the thought of friendship. It wasn't so much because of Uraraka, but because of the idea of friendship itself. In my experience, friends tend to be selfish, exhausting. and not very fun to be around in general. I was mostly worried about having to pretend to be busy if she asked to hang out when I didn't want to, or having to comfort her when she comes to me with her problems. Those sorts of things really aren't my forte, and I'd rather not deal with them.
