The #1 Assassin
* Sorry for the short chapter!
Chapter 5 -
"You're a bitch."
I turned my head over my shoulder to look at Daniel. "Maybe so, but you're a murderer."
He snorted. "Like you're not?"
I didn't have anything to reply to that. I mean, he was right. I was a murderer since I kill people but I look at in a good perspective. I saved millions of lives taking scumbags like him off the street.
I went back to ignoring Daniel and shuffled through the documents on the desk in front of me. I don't know what I was looking for. These were papers from Daniel's house and someone thought they would be helpful, but as I looked throught them, they weren't.
I sighed and ran my hand through my black hair. "What's your plan?"
Daniel kept his face blank. "I don't have a plan."
He raised a perfect arched brow. "Am I?"
I sighed fustrated. "Yes, you are. Everyone has a plan." I nodded at him. "And you have one too."
He stared at the floor thoughtfully before meeting his gaze with mine. "Nah, I don't think I do."
"Now I know you're lying," I said pointing a finger at him. "You and your brother are up to something and I want to know what it is."
"Did your daddy tell you that?" He gazed over my jeans and t-shirt, which I changed into when I got to Headquaters. "How old are you? Sixteen?"
I gritted my teeth. Must...Not...Reply...A...Sarcastic...Remark. "No," I said between clenched teeth.
I've been in a room with Daniel for only a half an hour and he was already starting to irritate me.
He smirked. "Is someone getting mad?" he sang.
"No, so shut up." I turned my back to him.
And that was the worst thing I could have ever possibly done.
I was suprised when Daniel grabbed me from behind and pulled me against his chest, locking my arms against my sides and wrapping one around my neck. "Listen," he breathed, tickling my ear. "You're going to open the door and walk me outside then you're going to let me go free."
"Uhh," I pretended to ponder the idea. "No thanks," I said, slamming the back of my head into his face.
"Shit," he said. His arms loosened a little bit but I needed them a little looser. I mentally sighed, getting myself ready for embarressment.
I stepped on his foot and bit the arm that was around my neck. He grunted and his arms let go of me completely. I swiviled around and kicked my leg out, knocking Daniel's feet out from under him. As he fell on his back, I straddled him, my legs on either sides of him, squeezing his arms. I grabbed the blade from my lower back and flicked it open, the light glittering against the knife.
I leaned forward and put the knife against his throat. "Is someone mad?" I asked with a smirk.
He clenched his jaw. "No."
I smiled. "I think you are." I shook my head. "It's ashame that a girl was able to take you down."
His jaw twitched but he didn't say anything.
"Aww," I cooed. "Looks like someone's ego is busted." I knew it was wrong of me to bait him like that but I couldn't help it. After five years of being serious, it felt good to be joking around with someone...
"My ego is busted," he said between clenched teeth. "And can you get off of me?"
I put my elbow on his chest and leaned my face into my palm, getting comfortable. "I'll let you go but there are a few conditions."
He snorted. You can't let me go with the goodness of your heart?"
I laughed. "Funny. You're talking about goodness of heart when you were about to kill me five minutes ago." Okay, I know he wasn't armed when he grabbed me but you never know what would have happened if I never pulled that low move on him.
"I wasn't going to kill you," he sighed. "I just wanted to leave. I didn't do anything to anybody. I don't know why I'm here."
I sat up and stared down at him. His answer caught me by suprise. Usually the people we hold hostage lie. But I got a feeling that he wasn't lying. You know the saying about "listen to your gut?" or however it goes. Is that even a saying or did I just make that up...?
Anyway, that was what my gut was telling me. That he was being truthful with me.
"What's your brother planing then?" I asked, knowing he wasn't going to tell me. I just thought I'd fill the awkward silence with something.
"I don't know. I don't talk to my brother."
"I thought you said he'll come after me if I kill you?"
He smirked. "I lied."
That rat bastard! I grabbed his neck and squeezed. He coughed. "You think this is a joke? I will kill you. But not before I torture you."
"Sierra!" Rick yelled, opening the door. Someone picked me up off of Daniel. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Rick demanded.
"He's my assignment, isn't he? He must be killed." I gripped the blade in my hand.
Rick gripped my arms. "No. He can't be killed."
"Why?" I questioned.
"He might help us get Chase. I had someone do some research and they are in fact related."
I glanced over at Daniel, who just winked at me. Cocky bastard. "I don't see any resemblance."
Rick shrugged. "They're related and that's all that matters. He can help lead us to Chase."
"What makes you think he will?"
"Nothing. We just have to make a deal with him."
I looked at him suspiciously. "What kind of deal?"
"Any deal he wants." Rick looked over at Daniel. "Daniel, we need your help."
"What? The biggest assassination company in the U.S needs my help?" He smiled and shook his head. "Well, golly, I'd love to help!" he mocked.
"Enough of the sarcasm," Rick said. "We need your help to get Chase. If you do, we owe you."
"Whatever I want?"
Rick nodded. "Whatever you want."
Daniel tapped his chin and looked around the room until his gaze landed on me. He smiled. "I'll get back to you on what I want. I'm stuck at the moment."
Why did I have a feeling he had something sneaky up his sleeve?
* Blah. I know this is an assassin story but I thought to make it a little different, ya'know? & I thought Daniel asking her out was. Don't worry, it's still going to be an assassin story with only a little flair or interest or whatever you call it. As for the video/song...
- What can I say? I love Avril Lavigne <3
