"And you're sure?" I said

"And you're sure?" I said. "You want me to help you murder someone?" I placed the car in park and let the heat rush through the vents on a mid-December Saturday as Alisha placed her hands directly in front of the heat. Whatever happened to Alisha happened without her permission. I scratched the back of my neck. "I mean, murder?"

Alisha raked her fingers through her hair. "Well, there you go using the word murder again. I look at it as revenge, you know? Not murder. No."

"Have you been smoking again?" I said before I realized how fucking stupid it was to say so.

"Look at my eyes"--Alisha leaned forward--"are my eyes dilated?"

Goosebumps crawled the length of my arms, and butterflies fluttered within. I'd wanted to be this close to Alisha Keagan since I could remember, and here I was up close and plenty personal. But how the fuck was I supposed to know what dilated eyes look like? How the fuck was I supposed to know what meth addicts do.

"I don't know, Alisha. Why not just go to the police?" I hadn't shot a gun yet. Not at a target. I haven't shot anything, and now, Alisha Keagan wants me to murder someone? What the fuck have I gotten myself into?

"How many times do we have to go over this? And have him get a slap on the wrist? Do you want him out raping other women in 5 to 10 years? I think not. Besides, I thought you'd do anything for me?" Alisha said with her big brown puppy dog eyes wide on my lips, hoping I'd agree to murder the man who kidnapped her.

"I meant like go to the store and get you bread or pick up a prescription for you that kind of thing. How was I supposed to know murder...

Alisha palmed her forehead. "Gah!"

"I mean, killing or getting revenge or whatever you want to call it was part of the deal?"

"So, you're saying you're not going to help me? I mean, it's me, Alisha -- the girl you used to jerk off to at night."

How the fuck did she know? I thought.

"Oh, don't look at me like that," Alisha said. "When I walked through the high school halls, you used to stare like nobody's business."

It's as if she's been reading my mind. I swallowed hard and held my hands in front of my body. "I didn't say I wouldn't help." Who the hell am I kidding. I didn't think I had it in me to kill a man, but for Alisha, even that was possible, and that's what scared me. I'd do anything for a girl who treated me like I didn't exist in high school.

Alisha lifted the center console and slide closer to me, giving me several quick pecks on the cheek

Alisha lifted the center console and slide closer to me, giving me several quick pecks on the cheek. Alisha's perfume was tantalizing, yet here I was. I was all in. Whatever she wanted me to do, I was doing, and there was no turning back now.
