???

Serena woke up from her sleep when she felt a hint of sunlight peek through the blinds of her bedroom window. She squinted her eyes and hesitantly opened her eyes for the new day. When she finally woke up, she realized that there is something strange going on. Something... different...

"It's quiet..." Serena thought to herself. "Too quiet..."

The honey-blonde girl noticed that she wasn't in a sleeping bag anymore, but she was instead lying on her own bed.

"That's strange... Shauna and Bonnie were both sharing my bed last night..."

Speaking of Shauna and Bonnie, they were nowhere to be found. In fact, her room seemed empty and bleak. Serena shivered slightly. She found that particularly odd because the window was closed and she was wrapped in a warm blanket. Serena looked around the room and also observed that Ash was not present either.

"Where did those three go?" Serena thought to herself in worry. Perhaps they went downstairs for breakfast and didn't want to disturb her?

She fondly remembered the time in Anistar City where Ash allowed her to sleep in because he didn't have the heart to do so. He postponed his gym battle with Olympia. Serena asked him why at the time and he replied that she looked too cute sleeping. That comment caused Serena to blush and wonder if Ash could be developing feelings for her.

Serena then reminisced about the time when Ash prioritized getting Serena to the Master Class rather than having the group head to Snowbelle City for his gym battle against Wulfric.

Serena sighed. Despite Ash being a dense teenager at the moment, he did have his moments. Moments that Serena was grateful for during their journey. It gave her hope that one day they could become a real couple.

Footsteps could be heard approaching her bedroom, which prompted Serena to snap out of her thoughts and look towards the door. Moments later, the door creaked slightly open to reveal Ash stepping into the room.

"He most likely came up to wake me up for breakfast. Aww... how sweet of him." Serena thought to herself, a blush appearing on her face. She didn't notice that Ash was standing right beside her bed, so she was immediately startled when she looked at him.

"Good morning, Ash!" Serena greeted in a happy tune and a bright smile.

She waited for Ash to reply back, but he never did. Instead, he was staring at her with an unreadable expression on his face. Serena thought he didn't hear her so she repeated herself.

"Good morning, Ash. Where is everyone?" Serena asked with a curious tone this time.

This time Ash reacted to her. He silently sat down on her bed and then looked back at her. Serena could have sworn she saw Ash's auburn-colored eyes have elements it never had before. It felt... empty... yet comforting.

"Good morning, Serena. Everyone else... they are sleeping..." Ash finally replied in an emotionless tone. "A very long and peaceful one..."

Serena flinched. Ash's comment caused her to shiver. What time is it? Serena looked at the clock on her desk, but for some reason, it was broken.
