"Am I really?" I spluttered. "Yes, yes. It is wrong and unprofessional."
Dante seemed to ponder for a moment before motioning his head to the side, away from the rest of the tour group.
"Come. I will be your tour guide. I know the stories behind these mythical gods." He started off a direction without waiting for me to follow.
I glanced back to the tour group and Elio. He seemed very flustered being trapped by nosy tourists. I definitely did not want to end up the same boat as him.
Once again, I gave in and chose to follow him.
He led me to the side of a magnificent temple with all of the tall columns still impressively intact, despite its age.
"The Temple of Concordia." He started. "Goddess of Harmony in Ancient Greek. Shes was said to bring peace. Daughter of Ares and Aphrodite. Then, later married off to a prince named Cadmus."
"Further on, the happy couple turned into black serpents."
I looked at Dante. He seemed to be lost in thoughts, so I just kept silent, nodding slightly to show that I was listening.
I wonder how he knew all these stuff.
We ventured to the front of the temple and stopped by a old statue.
"Fall of Icarus. He disobeyed his poor Father, Daedalus and flew too close to the sun. The wax that held the feathers of his wings together melted and he plummeted to his death. He fell into the deep waters of the ocean and drowned. Foolish boy."
I looked at him in horror.
"Do all of these history stories end badly?"
"Most." He glanced at me before proceeding to the back of the statue's wings.
"Medusa." I answered for him. "Most alluring maiden who was raped by Poseidon in the Temple of Athena. And then cursed by the Goddess herself for her illicit act."
Dante looked impressed as he brushed the giant wings.
We continued to the other temples. However, this time I kept quiet and listened to Dante. The more I listened, the more I was left in awe. The way he was describing the ancient tales was immaculate. He knew more details than any historian book and he spoke about the Gods as if he knew them, personally.
"I guess he is just really passionate about this." I silently shrugged it off as we approached the final temple.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus.
I felt the air shifting between us drastically as we took in the tall columns.
"αδελφόζ." He whispered so softly that if I had not strained my ears hard enough, his words would have been carried off by the wind.
He stilled, with his hands clenching into a tight fist. And that was when I knew that something was wrong.
"Dante?"
His eyes snapped back to mine and he faltered. Instantly, he snapped and thundered towards me.
I braced myself for whatever it is to come but I felt gentle fingers grabbing onto my elbow.
"Its going to rain." That was his brief explanation before pulling me towards the car.
I looked up in surprise to see the once clear, blue skies quickly turning into a dark one filled with grey clouds.
