"It's bad enough I have to babysit you. Now I have to babysit your pet, too?" Ian complained. "It'll just take a second! I'll be right back!" I called while running out of the room.

When I did, I ran into someone and I fell on top of them. "Ow... Hey, watch where you're going." They said.

I sat up, practically sitting on their waist and looked down at their face. It was some guy with gray hair, wearing a matching gray suit.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." I apologized. "No worries. Mind getting off me now?" He said.

"O-Oh! Right, sorry!" I quickly got off him and helped him to his feet. "I didn't break anything, did I? Are you new?"

"Visiting from Haven, actually." A girl with black hair said as she took a few steps forward.

"Oh, then you guys must be here for the festival. But I thought exchange students have their own dormitory?" I said.

"I guess we just got turned around." The guy said. "Yeah, it happened to me, too, once. If I remember correctly, I think your building is just east from here." I explained.

"Thanks," She stared at me, the smile not leaving her face. "A very... interesting hood you're wearing." She commented. "Thanks." I said, smiling back.

"Do you like the Grimm?"

"Oh, absolutely! What's not to like? Well, besides the whole hurting people thing."

I gasped and quickly slapped my hands over my mouth, thinking I've said too much. "U-Uh, I've got to go! It was nice meeting you, and welcome to Beacon!" I quickly said, then ran down the hall.

I went to the top of a hill and came across Mom's grave. "Hi, Mom," I greeted. "I'm sorry I didn't come sooner. A lot crazy things have happened. Oh! I got into Beacon a couple days ago. Um, sort of. I, uh... I have something to tell you,"

I took a deep breath. "I have... a Beowolf. A Grimm. For a pet. No, Dad didn't get him for me. I... Well, it's kind of a long story. His name is Shadow, and he's really good, I promise. He hasn't hurt anybody at all. Since Dad is away for a few days, I thought I'd spend time with my sisters. Oh! And Ruby's the leader of her team! Yang is with her, there's also Blake and Weiss, and they're super nice. So is the Professor at Beacon. I really hate to cut our chat short, but I have to get back to the dorm. I told my new partner that I wouldn't be long. He's kinda grumpy. Next time, I'll bring Shadow. He's really sweet, you'll see. It was really nice talking with you, Mom. I hope we can do it again real soon."

I went back to Beacon and told Ian I was going to take Shadow for a walk. "Good. He wouldn't stop whimpering the moment you left." Ian said.

I playfully stuck my tongue out at him, then put a collar and leash around Shadow's neck. As we walked to Emerald Forest, I couldn't stop thinking about that trio I ran into earlier.

And that woman's eyes... They looked pretty, but also intimidating. While I laid down on the grass, Shadow sniffed around and circled me every now and then.

About a few minutes later, I heard rustling coming from the bushes. I sat up. "Who's there?" I called out. "Calm down, Shrimp. It's just me." Ian said, pushing past the bushes.

"Ian? Did you follow me?"

"Not like I had a choice."

"I don't need a babysitter. I can take care of myself. Besides, I've got Shadow with me."

"You say that, but a Beowolf won't be enough to save you. You need to be careful out here."

"Oh, come on. What could be so dangerous out here? So far, I haven't seen anything dangerous,"
