I watched in awe as Damian plucked flower after flower out of the grass around us, completely unaware that I had in fact lifted my gaze from my book and was looking at him. He appeared so concentrated, so focused on whatever he was creating at that moment.

Part of me wanted to adjust my position to see it. His hands were just out of view and I couldn't make out exactly what he was doing with the flowers. I could only see his muscled back adorned in a loose white shirt and his dark hair falling across his eyes.

Shaking my head, I smiled to myself and turned back to my book. I was strewn out on my side across the soft picnic blanket, cheek resting upright on my hand as I read. Spending days like this with Damian was literally all I could've  ever asked for in my life. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

Another fifteen minutes passed before Damian suddenly turned, his eyes falling over me and the position I was in.  "Come over here."

My eyes flicked towards him in slight surprise. What was he up to?

Curious, I obeyed his orders, placing the book down and lifting myself into a seated position.

Damian grabbed my arm and pulled me toward him, almost as if he was impatient, which made me smile. He faced me fully, his body only inches from mine, hands sweeping my hair out of my face.

Then he placed the most beautiful looking flower crown i'd ever seen in my life on top of my head.

I practically gasped, my mouth hanging open as I gaped at the arrangement of flowers he'd weaved together in such a short period of time.

Damian pulled his hands away and leaned back onto his arms, almost as if stepping back to admire his work. He gazed at the crown on my head, eyes lighting up in a way I'd never seen before.

"You look like a viking goddess."

My heart stopped.

It was probably the most beautiful compliment i'd ever received in my entire lifetime. I wanted to cry.

"How did you..."

Damian just shrugged. "They're flowers. Not that hard."

"I forgot how artistic you were."

"I forgot how attractive you were."

My heart stopped once more and I blushed the deepest shade of red imaginable. He leaned forward again, resting his hands on my legs. He smirked at me and shook his head.

"Я лгал" (I lied) he said in my native tongue. "Я никогда не мог забыть" (I could never forget).

Oh my gosh.

I literally had to physically stop myself from swooning. Instead I fell forward into his lap, covering my tomato face with my hands and groaning out of pure defeat.

"Как ты можешь так поступить со мной!" (How can you do this to me!).

He just laughed and lightly kissed the top of my head.

"Саша, ты мой любимый человек" (Sasha, you are my favorite person).

I groaned dramatically again and jumped to my feet, grabbing his hands and yanking him up with me.

"Я тебя совсем не заслуживаю!" (I don't deserve you at all!) I exclaimed, pulling him across the open field of gorgeous flowers basking under the glow of the warm summer sunset.

I spun us around in circles, the both of us laughing like children, the children we never got to be. "Беги со мной, Дамиан" (run with me, Damian) I cried, pulling my hands free as his smile grew wider than I'd ever seen before.

We ran across the hill screaming and dancing and twirling until we were dizzy. We ran so far I could almost barely see the picnic blanket anymore. The hill was glorious, the fields so colorful I would have given up anything to merely be able to glimpse it once more. The sky burned with a pinky-orange hue that reflected off Damian's beautiful tan skin perfectly. It was all so mesmerizing.

We chased each other for a while until Damian caught me with obvious ease, but I was still grateful that he'd played along enough for me to think I could actually outrun him. Not that I'd ever want to outrun him.

He picked me up and we toppled down into the flowers once more from the momentum, exploding into fits of laughter. He ended up on top of me, propping himself up as not to crush me, arms on either side of my shoulders as his hair fell down into my face. A glorious sight.

"أنت تعلم أنني أحبك ، أليس كذلك؟" (You know I love you, right?), I told him in his own tongue, knowing how much it would mean for him to hear that.

Damian's face did something I'd never seen before. His jaw flexed and his eyes went wide. For the first time in his life, he looked speechless.

"لا ، أعتقد أنني أحبك أكثر" (No, I think I love you more) he replied.

And then he kissed me, and everything in the world was right.
