I stared vacantly at the food in front of me, zoning out of the conversation around the table. From what i could detect they were speaking about the party from last night, if the truth be told i remembered most of it I just chose not to. Letting out a sigh beginning to prod at the slice of cake i had in front of me, no other thought has capacitated my mind other than my run in with Mr Irwin. I was fully aware i should be panicking over the assignment i just handed in, thinking of what my life would be if i failed the exam, what my family would think, what i would do. But none of those things pulsed in my mind like the vibrant image of Mr Irwin.

"Earth to Ally" Cassie giggles, causing my eyes to dart up from my mashed up slab of cake to look at her. She seemed worried, her swallowing green eyes almost captivating as she tried to find out what was wrong with me.

"What?" i ask, looking around the table from Cassie to Hayley

"You haven't said a word since we left the campus, is everything is ok?" Hayley questions, her tone showing concern, already my mind wanders from a reasonably good excuse to Mr Irwin once again, fucking hell. "Or has your teacher totally infatuated you?"...Yes. But i wasn't going to admit that to them

"No, I'm just a little worried about Mr O'Conner's, his accident is all over the news." I shrug spooning up a mouthful of demolished cake into my mouth to appease them

"Anyway, what do you think the midterm dance theme is going to be this year?" Luke pipes up in attempts to change the conversation,

"That's a good question. I mean it's in a few months they should at least tell us so we can sort out our outfits" Cassie shrugs, as Luke begins playing with the soft strands of her blonde hair.

"Its masquerade" I giggle, finally letting a smile creep onto my lips as i watch their reactions "Luna is on the comity, she told me last week" Shrugging, as i spoon another mouthful of cake into my mouth. They began discussing what they would wear and the best places to buy the best dresses, Cass would obviously be going with Luke but Hayley insisted we both go out on the hunt for a date, that wasn't one of her best plans. "Why don't you ask that guy you hooked up with last night?" i ask watching as she looks at me in shock

"I didn't hook up" she exclaims, folding her arms defensively

"Yes you did, that's all Calum is boasting about" Luke smirks smugly at her

"Wait you hooked up with Calum, as in Calum Hood?" I raise my eyebrow at her, already she begins getting embarrassed, the blood rushing to her cheeks turning them a pale pink

"Maybe. Anyway who are you going to ask? Mr Irwin" she giggles at her own joke, causing my own cheeks to mimic hers. Would they drop the Mr Irwin jokes already?

"One he's my teacher, second he really isn't my type" I lie, he was gorgeous, muscular and had eyes i couldn't help but lose myself in, the fact he was my teacher was irrelevant. I mean nothing would come of this; it's just a silly little crush which will pass in a few weeks.

"Bull shit he is so your type" Cassie giggles scooting up closer into Luke's side, his eyes never left her, and the way he looked at her indicated how much he loved her. "Come on Ally, you haven't had a boyfriend since never we need to get you out there. When was the last time you kissed a guy?" great Cass thanks for that. A sharp pain stung in my chest...I've never been kissed. I think there where a few moments of silence before the waitress of the cafe approached our table. She was a tall woman with black hair pulled back into a bun; she seemed new, constantly fiddling with her pen and tripping over what she was saying

"Can I- would you like anything else" looking over at Luke as she spoke giving him a quick smirk, causing Cassie to jump in defensive

"No we're fine just the bill please" She almost shoos rolling her eyes at the waitress, before turning her attention back to me "Ally answer the question when was the last time you kissed a guy"

"Well- i haven't" Already i begin shifting in my seat again. I hated talking about relationships as if they are the only things on the planet that matter, and since I am rather inexperienced i felt left out and alien in the group. "But please don't make it your mission for me to get a boyfriend before the dance" I sigh pushing the plate to one side

"Ally we're sorry" Hayley pouts pulling me into a one armed hug making me smile "We just want you to be happy"

"I'd be happier if i passed my exams" I breathe getting to my feet "Anyway i need to be somewhere, I'll talk to you later yeah?" I pass Hayley some cash for my food and drink, she smiles knowingly at me as i slump my bag over my shoulder heading for the door. I didn't really need to be anywhere; i just wanted to be alone for a bit to get my head together, everything seemed to be falling onto my shoulders lately and i didn't want it to get on top of me but it was and all this other petty drama wasn't helping me in any way, shape or form.

I left the cafe and headed back towards the campus, only to collect my car of course, not because i thought on the off chance id bang into Mr Irwin...wrong term of phrase maybe? I needed to get back to the apartment and sleep, the day had been exhausting enough as it was, the party had totally drained me, along with the unavoidable pile of coursework i needed to sieve through and revise. The best option i had was to go home have a nice hot shower, clamber into bed and sleep until tomorrow afternoon...that sounded like a plan.

Arriving back at the campus the lights coming from the university illuminated the darkening parking lot, already the cool air started rippling through the atmosphere causing me to shiver. Remembering where i parked the darn thing I make attempts at salvaging my keys from my bag, my not so nimble fingers dropping them carelessly on the concrete floor "Fucking hell" I mutter,

"I got them" I hear a familiar voice say before i realise who it was...fuck

"Oh- um thank you sir" I swallow as Mr Irwin innocently passes me my keys "This is embarrassing" i blush trying to hide from his vision

"It's not a problem Allison" he smiles genuinely, my stomach swarming as i finally look at him

"It's just Ally"

"Well just Ally, I'm glad i caught you, I noticed after you left the class that you forgot this" he states passing me my Phone "You left in such a hurry" shit ally what the fuck are you doing my inner self screams as I lean in and kiss his cheek, every emotion swarmed in panic as I looked at him regretful as I take the phone from his hand

"Sorry-thanks" I mumble getting into my car trying to avoid eye contact as much as possible

"No problem" he smiles as I drive off even more embarrassed than ever.
