Something weird was going on. When I was at school on Friday, Lincoln and I talked a lot. I thought he was a really cool guy and we had a lot in common.

But as I stood here with him, Ethan, Sam, Amelia, Charlie, and a couple other people who I didn't know, Lincoln seemed cold, distant almost. I tried making conversation with him and even though he responded, his answers were quick, like he didn't want to talk to me for long.

I wondered if Mason had said something to him. Lizzie told us earlier that she thinks he's trying to turn people against me. I don't understand why, I haven't done anything to the guy. Sure, I'm dating the girl he had a crush on, but I mean come on, get over it. Rejection is part of life. I've asked out a few girls before and I've got all 'no's from them. Yeah it hurt, but I didn't try to ruin their lives afterwards.

I made eye contact with Amelia while Ethan was sharing a story. She quickly cast her eyes away and looked very uncomfortable. Ok Mason definitely did something.

I turned away to go find him but what I saw coming my direction made my stomach drop. Panic swelled up in my chest.

No, I was just seeing things. I shut my eyes tight, but when I opened them I still saw the same thing. The girl I lost my virginity to, Megan, was walking straight towards me.

I took a step back and grabbed Charlie's arm. She looked at me concerned and when she noticed my face expression she didn't even ask what was up. She gripped my arm and tan down the beach away from the crowd, away from Megan.

She sat behind the Surf Shack that we 'borrowed' our surf boards from on our First Night.

"What is it?" Her eyes darted all over the place frantically. "Is there a monster?"

I shook my head, "No. Well, yes she's a monster but not the type you're talking about."

"Who?"

"Megan." I looked around the corner of the tiny building. She was nowhere in sight.

"Who's Megan?" She peeked her head out trying to see what I might be looking at.

I faced her. "Megan is the girl I- well you know..."

I couldn't read Charlie's face. I had no idea what she was feeling. I was tempted to reach for her hand and try and feel what she was feeling but that seemed inappropriate in this situation, like an invasion of privacy.

"I thought that was in Miami." Her voice was flat.

"It was! I have no idea what she's doing here!" I urged.

"You're positive it's her you saw?"

I nodded. "Unmistakably."

"So what do we do?" Her fingers subconsciously traveled to her necklace, where she played with the beads on the leather string. I noticed that hanging over her camp necklace was a shiny silver necklace with a wave pendant. It looked brand new. I wondered if it was a birthday present.

"I'm not sure, is it possible to avoid her all night?" I asked hopefully

She shook her head. "Probably not. Especially with the karaoke, cake cutting, and dance off later."

"You do all of that?"

"Every year."

I pursed my lips. "I'm not sure if I want to talk to her."

"What is she even doing here?" Charlie looked more annoyed now. I was very appreciative of how understanding Charlie was being. Most girls might bitch about something like this, but here Charlie was trying to help me through it.
