warnings: mentions of food
Camp Morningstar was just how you remembered it.
Though you remembered things to be a bit bigger in size but now you are a lot older than you were before. You were only 11 years old when you first set foot here and now you're 21 and in college. The moment you saw a post on an old friend's Instagram about needing counselors you jumped at the chance.
Camp was one of your favorite childhood memories and unlike anything you experienced. In fact, you're still in touch with Emily, a girl you met 10 years ago who lives hundreds of miles away but still sends you letters, and even though it hurt at the time this camp gave you your first taste of love with George Weasley.
You never forgot his name.
How could you? He was your first kiss after all.
Soon the radio of your car starts to break as you get further into the mountains. 20 minutes later the familiar wooden sign comes into view. The lettering was a bit worn down but it was still readable. Pulling into the parking lot you grab your bags out of your car and head to check-in.
"Hello! Y/n here for check-in," You bounce on the balls of your feet as a kind lady smiles at you.
As she scans her clipboard you silently read the name Lorraine off her lanyard. If you remembered correctly she was one of the assistant directors when you were a camper but it looks like she was the director now.
"Ah yes, here is your lanyard with your name and emergency contacts. You'll be leading cabin 8." She smiles warmly as she hands you your things.
"The welcome meeting starts in about an hour in the cafeteria." You thank her and hurry off to your cabin.
The smell of the outdoors fills your nose as you pass by a few other cabins. Some empty and some already had their cabin leaders decorating the doors. It was camp tradition to decorate the doors and create a little theme.
You decided to go with the theme of mythical creatures. Construction paper cut out in the shape of fairies, unicorns, dragons, and mermaids sat in your bag. Choosing the bunk closest to the door you quickly make your bed and sweep up around the cabin.
"Hello!" A new voice catches your attention. Looking up you see a girl who you assume is another cabin leader.
"Hi!" You hold out your hand but she hugs you instead.
"My name is Angelina, I'm in cabin 7." She points towards the cabin next to you. Animal decorations on full display.
"I'm Y/n, It's nice to meet you." Angelina smiles and sits on an empty bunk.
You had already put up the decorations on the door as well as make a small gift bag for each girl you had comprised of colorful pens and a notebook and stickers. You remembered how much you treasured your old notebook from camp and you wanted to give those girls a chance to do the same.
"I am in love with your decorations, did you do all this yourself?" Angelina asks as she admires your cabin. Smiling you nod your head.
"Yep, the dragon was the hardest and honestly it just looks like a lizard." You both burst out laughing, a warm feeling filling you up knowing that you've already made a friend.
Angelina helps you clean up your cabin as you two chat. You learn that she goes to a local college and found out about this from her friend Katie Bell who was a game director here. She loves sports and is on her school's division 1 soccer team, and she has never been to a summer camp before.
"I'm relying on you for help," She says playfully as you two head down to the cafeteria together.
"I was only here twice when I was like, 11 and 12 but I'll do my best." There were only a few minutes until the meeting was supposed to start by the time you find your seat.
