Hinata was making lively conversation with this one kid from the setters campus, and the guy seemed pretty fond of the middle blocker already, almost as if they had met multiple times.

His chest ached in tightness as he saw Hinata laugh at the others remarks, it was surely not that funny.

"Yeah, and then he hit the volleyball on the other side of the court immediately!" The guy said

"I wanted to learn that move since forever! But my exams keep pushing me in to study..." Hinata groaned

Hinata's ears perked up as he heard a loud throat clearing behind him, Kageyama looming behind him intimidatingly.

"Kageyama!" Hinata smiled, seemingly unaware of the scary aura the taller gave off

"Uh- catch you later Hinata!" The guy said, running off as Kageyama drilled holes into his soul

"Oh! Yeah, catch you later." Hinata said to him but he had already ran off

"Let's go up to eat." Kageyama said

The two walked back to Kageyama's dorm room and sat at the table, eating the orange chicken and fried rice they had just ordered.

"Kageyama?" Hinata said, looking up after a couple moments

"What?" Kageyama said

"Are you okay?" Hinata asked, noticing his boyfriends sudden mood change

".... Not when you get all flirty with other guys on my campus." Kageyama mumbled

"Flirty?" Hinata said "You mean Keijme?"

"Whatever his name is, yeah." Kageyama said "You guys were awfully friendly."

"We had met a couple times as i've visited you time to time the past year." Hinata smiled "Nothing more or less of that."

"Hmph..." Kageyama mumbled as he stuffed his face with another orange chicken

"Kageyama~ don't get jealous!" Hinata said, shuffling over to his side and hugging him "You know I love you."

Kageyama sighed as he put down his plate and hugged the smaller back ".... I love you too."

The two sat there peacefully as they leaned on each other, savoring each others presence as much as possible.

"What did you guys even talk about? Volleyball? He isn't even on the team." Kageyama said

Hinata smiled and kissed the taller on the cheek "Doesn't matter now."

☾ Timeskip ☽

The two sat quietly at the empty train station, all bundled up and hand in hand as they waited for the next train to come.

As much as they both loved seeing each other, they both dreaded this part. It made them both ache each time they departed.

".... Kagey-"

"I know." Kageyama cut off, knowing he'd miss him too

"And I l-"

"I know that too." Kageyama cut off once again, knowing he loved him too

Hinata stared at his lover, knowing he was in the same amount of pain he himself is in.

"I'll come over to visit next break, so don't worry about rushing over here again." Kageyama said, hearing the distant train come closer and closer

Hinata slowly nodded, his eyes clouding with tears. Although they had done this for a year, he still wasn't used to the goodbyes. Neither was Kageyama.

"Hinata." Kageyama said, staring at Hinata as the orange headed male looked up at him

The look said it all, no words being spoken on the chilly winter day.

Cold breeze flowing through their hair and scarves so calmly.

The train rushed through the station, quickly coming to a halt as the doors automatically opened.

The two shared a quick kiss before Hinata boarded the train, lightly waving at Kageyama with a smile as the doors closed and the train rushed past.

The two of their somber expressions were wiped off their faces, because just glancing at each other they knew.

That their love was enough.

It was enough to overpass any distance.

As in the end,

They'd have each other close by.
