The day of the finals arrived and I’m not cramming and stressed like I used to, this time… I’m actually prepared. Today also holds another meaning, today I’m going out to the world, after all that’s happened, today is the day I’m stepping outside the walls of comfort of our house.
“Welcome back to the land of the living sister.” My brother joked.
Mum arrived two days ago, she got a tan and a new hairdo, she says it her way of moving on; a new and somewhat improved version of her. Well, I’m just glad she’s back. She apologized to me and Alex for just leaving like that…
Thankfully I made it through day in one piece, day by day I find myself again, I’m starting to heal the wounds. Well, some wounds, I’m afraid the others might need more time; I’m talking about him and me. As I walk down the hallway, I saw him, and he saw me. There’s that moment, even if we’re far away, we knew that we’re looking at each other. I was the first one to look away, I said my goodbye’s to my friends and quickly walked out to the parking lot.
“Hey! Wait!” I heard him say.
My heart beats rapidly as I heard his voice, calling me, asking me to stop and wait for him. Well it’s no use to hide now; I slowed down my phase as I waited for him to catch me.
He’s panting when he reached me, that stubble I saw on his face the last time he went to my house has grown long, it looked like he lost weight too. His hair’s unruly on his head; he didn’t even bother to comb.
“What do you want?” I asked, my voice shaking, this is the first time we’ve come close to each since that night in their old house.
“It’s… I… I just want to know how you’re doing.” He said.
“You got a car?” he looked at the car parked behind me.
“No... It’s uh… actually my dad’s…” I cleared my throat. “Mum just thought I’d be good if I drive it since I already got my driver’s license and I’m still saving up money to buy a car.”
“Did you received the texts and calls that I sent you?” he asked hopefully.
“I did but I didn’t read them or heard them...”
“Do you know that I’ve been going to your house everyday for the past month?”
“Then why didn’t you see me?” he sounded hurt.
“Are you really that dumb Mason?” I said, controlling my emotions. “Why do you think?”
“I was hoping that you already had enough time to think about it… about us… Blondie please…?” he pleaded and walked closer to me, it’s breaking my heart to be this close to him, my instincts, every inch of my body screams for him, longs for him.
“Don’t call me that… no one calls me that anymore.”
“Can we… Can we at least try to fix this? I mean…” he held my hand; I can see the tears that are welling up in his eyes, threatening to fall any time. “You’re the only person that I ever let inside, that I allowed to let my guard down, and I fucked it up. I fucked us up. I admit that… but please?” He continued. I pulled my hand away; I swallowed the lump that’s forming in my throat.
Just a little bit more Chloe… You can do this.
“Please? Just give me one more chance Chloe… I’m begging you… I… you can’t… I mean… this…” he gestured to us. “What we have… You’re just going to throw it all away?”
