𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑟 1: 𝑀𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐼𝑛

The memories came rushing back. I'm officially back in California. Never did I think I'd ever be back in the town where I grew up. The crazy thing is though, it looks the exact same.. after all these years.

When I was 6, I was forced to move away from The Valley with my uncle. He said it would be "better for me".

What a load of shit.

Florida was the worst place I've ever been. All there was there were alligators, mosquitoes, humidity, and beaches.. which had absolutely no waves, I might add. It was the worst.

I developed the same, daily routine. There was nothing exciting there. Oh, except for the Universal theme parks. Those were amazing! I was always absolutely mesmerized by the Harry Potter section. Harry Potter is one of my absolute favorite things! I could talk about it forever!

Anyways, being back in The Valley felt like one of the best days of my life. My uncle was constantly trying to show me all the great things that were in Florida. I wasn't impressed with anything.

But I finally got out of there. Hallelujah.

I was then taken out of my thoughts by my uncle calling my name.

"Glad to be back?" He asked enthusiastically. "Oh yeah! I'm so glad to finally be out of that shit hole..." I said, looking back out my window to see the familiar streets and beaches.

"Hey, watch your language.." He warned.

My dad.. he wasn't the best guy. And my mom, well, she was amazing. She always knew how to cheer me up when I needed it. But when I was 6, she passed away...

"Here we are!" He said, trying to break the silence. We pulled up to a small, rundown apartment building. "So... what do you think?" He said, awaiting my answer. "It's... perfect." We're finally back. I'm finally home.
