I was not even suppose to be here. Again.
My alarm decided not to ring this morning. I got up at a quarter passed 8.
Shit. Shit. SHIT.
I cannot be late on my second day at work. I quickly showered on yanked on a pair of smart pants and a pink, silky blouse.
I knew I had to take my motorbike to cut through traffic and make it to work on time. I hurriedly rushed out of the door and hopped on my bike, zooming on the streets of New York.
I felt a rush of relief as I glanced at my watch. Its 8.55am. 5 mins till my reporting time and I was already in the carpark.
I relaxed a bit as I entered the tall building.
Uh oh. I saw the same big security guard from when I first came here, approaching me fast.
"Stop. Badge?" He grunted.
"Oh come on Jerry! You saw me yesterday." I looked at him, flabbergasted.
The hands on my watch ticked by quickly, reminding me of the little time I have. Jerry just raised his eyebrows at me.
Sighing, I reached into my tote bag, pulling out my badge.
I danced on my feet, impatiently as he slowly read it.
"I thought you were Mrs Robinson." He huffed.
"Must be the wrong gal." I smiled at him, before snatching my badge back.
"Hey, wait! Are you sure you don't sell pink, vibrating dildos?" Jerry called out.
What is everyone's obsession with pink, vibrating dildos?!
I quickly yelled out a 'no' before sprinting towards the closing lift doors. I bend over in the lift, trying to catch my breath. My stamina has clearly not improved over the last 12 hours of chasing Dante around.
Once the lift doors opened on the top floor, I walked as quickly as I could to the door at the end, trying not to capture anyone's attention.
I feverishly knocked on the hard oak doors before opening it.
"You're late." Harsh eyes greeted me.
"I'm sorry." I immediately apologised.
"Why were you late?" His eyes solely trained on me.
"The bus broke down." I did not know why I said that.
I guess that it has been my number 1 excuse at the newspaper agency so much that it became my default answer.
Dante nodded before standing up, approaching me. He is tall which always makes me feel like a little girl when he stands next to me.
"Come." He gently took me by the elbow and brought me to a smaller desk a few metres away from his.
It was diagonal from his desk, facing the wall opposite and him.
Is this my workspace? Well I guess if I was here to write about him, I would have to be close to him.
I saw a small bouquet of flowers already in a vase by the cup of stationaries. I smiled to myself. Did he put that there?
I was nervous. Usually, I would be working alone in my cubicle. But now, I would be in direct eyeline of Dante. I don't do so well under observing eyes. Especially if those eyes belongs to a guy who I was lusting for.
"Is it comfortable?" He questioned as I sat down on the chair.
"Definitely, way comfier than those hard chairs in my cubicle as work." I laughed.
