The rooftop was cold tonight. Well, it was usually cold, New York isn't exactly known for its hot spring weather but tonight just felt colder. But that's what you get for being on the rooftop of your apartment but sometimes that's the only place you could get away to.

After the blip things were thrown into chaos. You remember fading away then suddenly you're back in your English classroom. Realizing you were gone for 5 years. 5 whole years.

Your life had flipped upside down.

Finding your old friends, finding your parents again. Learning just how much changed. It was overwhelming honestly. To you it was merely seconds but to everyone else it had been 5 whole years.

The world had already adjusted to half the world being gone and it was never ready for them to come back.

It seems you weren't the only one who needed a rooftop getaway. In your usual spot sat the Spiderman. His mask is still on but you can tell he's struggling.

"Hey there Spiderman." The web slinging hero quickly turns his head, a little surprised to see you. Though it was kind of hard to tell because you couldn't really see his eyes that well.

"Can I join you?" You ask softly. He nods and you sit down next to him.

The city was alive as ever. Since Thanos' destruction, the world never seemed to stop moving. With the bad came the good though. Families being reunited, friends coming back.

Not without its sacrifices of course. The loss of Ironman hit the world hard. Captain America too. Black Widow, Vision. You didn't know them personally but you knew what they've done for the world.

"Are you okay? No one's really seen you around since..." You trail off, not wanting to say the words in your mouth.

Spiderman and Ironman were close. Everyone thought that he would become his new apprentice and Spiderman would join the ranks of the Avengers.

"I still do patrols but, there hasn't been much to patrol." Then there's just silence. You want to talk to him, superheroes can't be heroes all the time. Sometimes they just need to. feel like a normal person.

"If you don't mind me asking, what now Spiderman?"

That was the question a lot of people have. What now? Two of the big leaders are gone. The world is safe for now but what happens when another threat comes? Who's going to step up and be the new leader?

"I guess, we just move on. Try and heal. Create a new normal." He doesn't sound convinced of his own words.

Sighing you take his hand in yours, lifting your other hand you pull off his mask and he lets you. The familiar brown curls spring from the spandex mask. Placing his mask in his hands you meet the eyes of your nerdy, caring, superhero boyfriend.

"And what does Peter think?" Resting your hand on his cheek you wipe away the stray tears that streak down his face.

You had known for a while that Peter was Spiderman. After what happened in Washington on that trip you put two and two together. You weren't mad he didn't tell you, a little hurt but at the end of the day, you understood he had to hide his personal life away.

When the world in chaos the only thing you could think about was Peter. He had disappeared on the bus to MOMA and you hadn't heard from him since. With that alien invasion you knew he was off somewhere with Ironman and all you could do was sit and hope he would come back to you.

He did but it wasn't how you expected. Broken, bloodied up from a battle. Tears streaming down his face at the loss of his father figure. When he came home to May and to you he held onto you as tight as he possibly could and wouldn't let you go.

"I. I don't know." He croaks out.

"W-When I was, fading away. I could feel it. I could just feel something was wrong." He rests his head on your shoulder as you wrap your arm around him comfortingly.

"The only thing on my mind was you and May." He whispers as he squeezes your other hand.

"Then suddenly I'm back and Dr. Strange is telling me to get up and I'm fighting Thanos again and then-" He's cut off by a small sob.

"Oh Peter," You rub his back as he wraps his arms around your waist.

"Mr. Stark is gone and now everyone is looking for the next Iron Man. But what if I just want to be Peter?" It hurts your heart to hear him so distraught.

"Then you be Peter," Taking his face in your hands you stare into his teary brown eyes.

"You're not the next Iron Man or the next Captain America. You're Spiderman but that's not all you are," He smiles softly at your words, his head leaning into your touch.

"You're also a star wars nerd and a great boyfriend, you wear stupid science pun shirts and you like pickles on your sandwiches. Also, you're like, the smartest kid in our grade. You know who you are? You're Peter Parker." A grateful smile graces his face as he cups your face.

The material of his suit feels a little strange against your skin but it doesn't matter when his lips meet yours. Your hands snake up to his hair as he deepens the kiss.

"I love you, and I'm so glad you're safe. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you during all this." He mumbles as he reluctantly pulls away.

"I love you too Peter." You turn back towards the view of the city, Peters head resting on your shoulder as you sit together in silence, hands intertwined.

Neither of you know what's to come in the next few months, the world is still adjusting back to normal but you have Peter and he has you.

And that's good enough for now.
