KORI PETROMI DIDN'T have anything of her own. no home, no family, no friends, no lover. she was completely and utterly alone in the hydra base. unfortunately this hydra base was the only home she'd ever known. of course she knew she had one before she was taken but where that was exactly she had no idea.
she was 3 years old when she was taken. stolen from her parents hands and ripped away from a perfect life. well, as perfect as it could have been for a mutant anyway. she was always living in fear for her safety but at least she had people she loved surrounding her.
now she was alone.
the cell she had lived in for the past 14 years was horrid. the walls were made of grey stone with lines drawn across them, which she did herself, to mark how many days she'd been here for. a sink and a toilet was in a room to the side. a shower accompanied it with only freezing cold water coming out. the door to the cell was made of steal and only had a slide at the bottom and top to give her food.
no window. no way out. no escape.
kori figured she was about 17 by now. the marks on the wall were roughly 17 which made her sad. she spent her whole childhood and teenage life locked away like an animal. she never got to experience what the real word was like.
she couldn't remember what the sun looked like. she didn't remember the moon, or snow, or rain. she just knew four concrete walls and an open plan floor where she'd be taken for training.
here she sat on her single bed cross legged. her arms placed neatly at her side staring at the wall in boredom. as much as she hated fighting it gave her something to do instead of growing insane.
suddenly she heard voices outside her cell. they were speaking loudly and the sound of feet scuffing the floor got her attention. she moved her head away from the wall and to the steal door.
she heard the keys rattling as the door was flung open, which startled her. she didn't know why they were here. training wasn't until tomorrow and they never opened her cell before that.
moving her legs she watched with interest as two teenagers were forced into the room and the door was slammed behind them.
kori felt herself curl into a defensive position, pushing herself against the wall even further. her knees came up to her chest as she watched them bang on the door speaking in a language she didn't understand.
she noticed they were about her she maybe a year or two older. a girl and a boy. both brunettes and a slight height difference.
the girl was the first to turn around and her eyes widened when they spotted kori. she elbowed the boy and pointed behind him to kori.
silence erupted in the room for at least 5 minutes. it was the girl who spoke first "who are you?"
koris eyebrows furrowed. she didn't understand the language she was speaking. she only knew russian and part french and german. this was definitely a foreign one for her.
she stared blankly at them and tilted her head. the girl must have noticed and rephrased her question "кто ты?" (who are you?)
she was speaking russian now.
kori gulped staring at them. "kori" she answered shrinking back when they came closer.
the girl gave her a warm smile "мы не причиним тебе вреда. я обещаю" (we won't hurt you. i promise). kori was still hesitant but pushed herself away from the wall.
she eyed them both "кто вы двое?" (who are you two?) she asked slowly.
the boy hadn't said anything but was silently watching her posture. he was trying to figure out if she was some sort of trick or she was generally a prisoner of hydra.
the girl came closer sitting on her left on the bed. "я wanda maximoff. это мой близнец pietro maximoff" (i'm wanda maximoff. this is my twin pietro maximoff) the boy gave her a small nod.
kori forced herself to look away from his steal blue eyes. "что ты здесь делаешь?" (what are you doing here?) she asked wanda. the girl looked to her brother who gave a subtle head shake.
wanda sucked in a breathe "мы здесь, чтобы получить силы. чтобы спасти нашу страну" (we're here gain powers. to save our country) she answered truthfully.
kori hummed in acknowledgment. she stood up stretching her limbs when she realised they weren't a threat to her. "интересно" (interesting)
the boy finally spoke "что там интересного" (what's interesting) he seemed slightly defensive. wanda gave him a look to stop but kori simply smirked at him.
"вы не можете запугать меня угрюмым. Я прошел через худшие вещи, чем отношение мальчика-подростка" (you can't intimidate me moody. i've been through worse things than some attitude from a teenage boy)
wanda burst out laughing and pietros sour face suddenly dropped. it was replaced but an amused look and his defensive posture seemed to fade away. kori winked at wanda who was still laughing at her brother.
"Ты мне нравишься. Мы будем хорошими друзьями" (i like you. we're gonna be great friends) wanda said standing next to kori was gave her a smile back.
kori couldn't remember the last time she smiled.
pietro moved in front of her with a smirk "ты мне тоже нравишься фиолетовый" (i like you too violet)
she gave him a confused look staring you at the taller boy. "фиолетовый?" (violet?)
he only shrugged and pointed her her eyes "у тебя фиолетовые глаза, милый" (you have violet eyes, darling" he gave her a cocky smirk.
she rolled her eyes and faced his sister who was giving him the same look "он всегда такой?" (is he always like this?)
wanda sighed dramatically "к несчастью" (unfortunately) she replied then laughing with kori.
pietro rolled his eyes and went to speak but was cut of by the metal door opening and two guards entering.
kori gave them a sad smile "Увидимся скоро. Обещаю" (i'll see you soon. i promise) she told them.
wanda gave her a hug before she was taken away. then her eyes moved to pietro who of course winked and was whisked away from her.
kori sat back down on her bed and for the first time ever.
