PROLOGUE,

the boneyard.

inhale, exhale. the two things that have gotten amelia banks through her life so far. the smooth feeling of the marijuana flooding her system with a dimly lit fire next to her. her mother had yet again "disowned" her. amelia needed an escape, her mothers words on repeat, 'worthless, useless, and stupid'

going to the boneyard brought peace to amelia. but it also bought peace to another,

jj maybank. the one pogue who amelia banks truly did not like. jj stumbled down the beach tears streaming down his face. he had just gotten into a very rough fight with john b about the royal merchant gold and john b's dad. jj never really cried in front of anyone, until now.

"wow princess, didn't expect to see you here," amelia is quick to reply with ease, "go away jj, please don't take away what little peace i have left."

amelia can tell something is wrong with the boy as he hasn't replied with something smart yet. making amelia turn and give the boy a questionable look. jj is giving her the same look back, tears streaming down his face.

"didn't mean to disturb you princess, i mean i did. kind of, i saw the fire on the beach while i was walking and it just happened to be you." finishing off the joint with ease amelia seems to feel for the boy as she can see the look on his face, and he isn't the usual quick witted and sarcastic jj she knew. "wanna sit?"

now if you told sober amelia banks that she just offered a seat to jj maybank right next to her in her safe spot she wouldn't believe you. but this is high amelia, the amelia that just wants to escape from reality.

jj maybank was also very confused as to why amelia banks just offered him a seat next to her. i mean yes he thought she was hot and all but he knew she would never do this sober. "sure, why not. i have an extra joint anyways." jj wasn't sure at all, in fact he knew that when they both become sober things would be very different. but in that moment, he simply did not care.

passing the joint back and fourth in content silence, jj maybank and amelia banks knew they would never be this content sober, but that's the beauty of being high. you become unaware of all decisions, you finally reach the peace you were longing for, and that is exactly what the two teens needed. peace.
