"My cousin asked for your number." Ace said during breakfast the day after. We had to be at the airport before lunch so we still got time. Most of the people had already left except for their friends. We had our last dinner yesterday at the hotel and we played games. It was fun but I couldn't keep the thoughts out of my head.
"Are you talking to me?" Cara asked, sipping on her orange juice.
"Yeah. He says you look like a model." Ace chuckled. "I didn't give it to him though, I know you guys are together." He added, glancing at me.
For how long, though?
I still didn't know what was going on between us. We hadn't talked since yesterday after she told me the reason why she didn't want to have children. I told her to explain to me why but she wouldn't tell me. After that, it was all awkward glances, and small talk in our room. She seemed mad for some reason and I was freaking out because I really didn't know if we were breaking up or not. That topic had really been a breaking point for us, but as I told her, if I didn't have kids... I knew at some point I would regret it. And I couldn't do that to her. If she didn't want them, maybe we were not right for each other.
"You should start modeling." Martina added. "You're tall enough, right?" She asked glancing at Riley.
"Why are you asking me? Of course she's tall, I'm a smurf beside you all." She scoffed.
We all laughed, Luca kissing her temple.
"I told her a million times-"
"Where are you guys going for your honeymoon?" Cara asked, cutting me off.
Okay. If she didn't want me to talk, then so be it.

My idea of getting our plane seats together seemed like the worst I had ever had now.
Thank god I got my earbuds so I could listen to music or some postcads. Cara didn't, and she didn't stop fidgeting and glancing at me.
"You want one?" I asked her, showing her one.
She shook her head. "I can't think when I'm listening to music."
Cara was so different from me. I remember in school I couldn't even concentrate if I wasn't listening to something.
Her comment kept me thinking, though. She wanted to think. Was she contemplating breaking up with me? Would we have a talk when we arrived?

"You're all so quiet." Luca said as he drove back from the airport.
"We're tired, Luca." Riley said, squeezing his hand.
"Hey." Cara frowned when she realized we were almost at my place. "You're not dropping me off at home?"
"Uhm..." Luca scratched the back of his head. "I thought you'd stay here. If you want me to turn-"
"It's okay." I sighed. "I'll drive you."
Cara glanced at me quickly. "I just- I want to see my family."
I pressed my lips together, looking out the window. "Yeah, I get it."
We went down to the garage, put Cara's suitcase in the trunk of my car and made our way towards her house. I was really tired and a little irritated that things were still left untalked.
"Nico." She said when we entered her neighborhood. "I- Uhm..."
"Cara, I know I've been a little harsh on you, if you need time or if you need a break, I'll totally understand." I glanced at her out of the corner of my eye, the lights were already on, dinner time almost there.
