A/N: this is the second (or third to) last chapter woops
I chewed on my lip nervously as I made my way up the front steps of the now familiar house. I can't believe I let Mali talk me into this stupid idea. It's going to backfire so badly.
Taking a deep breath, I raised my hand to the doorbell, ringing it twice before quickly retracting my hand and shoving it into my pocket. I watched the setting sun, hearing laughter and footsteps approaching from the other side of the door, and started silently worrying about whether or not I had made the right decision.
Mere moments later, the door swung open, revealing a laughing Luke. I sucked in a breath as his laughter was immediately cut short when his eyes landed on me. He blinked a few times, furrowing his eyebrows, before grinning widely and throwing his arms around me, hugging me tighter than anyone has hugged me before - and that's saying something, seeing as both Mum and Mali are fierce huggers.
Before I got a chance to properly hug him back, he cried "Calum!" letting me go to smile at me. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Um, surprise!" I answered sheepishly, but I couldn't stop the grin from creeping onto my face.
"This is great! I'm so happy you're here! Come on in," he giggled, pulling me into the house and shutting the door behind me. "You should've told me!"
"That wouldn't have been much of a surprise, now would it?" I mused, and he just rolled his eyes, smacking me in the arm. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything..."
"Of course not! I was just watching stupid YouTube videos to pass the time... Uh, do you want something to eat?"
"Sure," I shrugged, following him to the kitchen. As he looked through the shelves and cupboards, I observed the fridge, looking at all the different magnets and photos stuck to it. One of them was a younger Luke, with the whole "emo bang" thing going on, and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Luke peered over his shoulder, before shaking his head. "Is it the bangs?" He asked, pulling down a bowl from one of the higher shelves. "It's always the bangs that people laugh at!"
"It is the bangs," I answered truthfully.
"Thank god I'm over that," he chuckled, before asking. "So, what made you surprise me? Not that I mind, of course."
"Oh, uh, Mali actually suggested it," I answered sheepishly, and he gave me a look.
"Really?" he asked, before shrugging. "Well, why not. It's the best thing that's happened all week. Do you wanna watch a movie or play Fifa?"
"Fifa sounds good," I nodded.

The next time I checked the time, it was nearly 11pm and there was no way I could catch the bus back home without having a breakdown due to paranoia. I looked over at the door of Luke's room, waiting for him to return. I could hear him talking to his mum in the hallway, but what about, I didn't know.
When he came back, I didn't get a chance to talk, because he had launched himself into a tirade. "So I was just talking to Mum, and it's pretty late and I don't want you taking the bus alone. I mean, I can drive you if you want, but I wouldn't trust myself driving all the way in the dark, and I don't think it's a good idea for any of us to be driving at this time of night and maybe you should stay the night, if you want of course otherwise something can be arranged and-"
I smacked a hand over his mouth, chuckling. "Luke, it's fine. I'll need some pyjamas, though..."
"Of course!" he grinned, pulling my hand off his face. Without letting go, he dragged me to his cupboard, and I blushed a little at the sight of his fingers curled around my wrist.
