Chapter 1

"I told you we should have left earlier look at all this snow now." Jaida yeled at Fabian her elder brother who was in the driving.

"Jaida you're part of the reason we didn't leave earlier. You lost the car keys and it took a whole thirty minutes to find them." Zuri said defending him.

"He left it on on the ground so I picked it up and put it somewhere." Jaida said.

"Why are you two going to the mall to do anyways. It's 13° outside." Fabian asked looking back at us through the mirror.

"To spend money on unnecessary things." Zuri answered quoting the word unnecessary as what Fabian called most of the stuff his sister and her friends buy.

"So I'm going to need to go to Victoria Secret with y'all?" Fabiann said waiting behind a truck carrying construction materials.

"No, you're just gonna need to carry the bags." Zuri answered him.

"Where'd you two get money from anyways?" Fabian asked turning on the avenue which his friend liver at.

"Our first paycheck." Jaida clapped all excited.

"I thought you were supposed to be saving that for college." Fabian said making the smile on his sisters face drop.

"I'm saving half of it. If you tell mom, I'm telling her you brought a girl in your room and closed the door," Jaida said forming a mischievous smirk on her face.

"You work three days a week. How much money does Burger King pay you. I might just quit serving popcorn to come work with y'all." He asked stopping at the gate.

"About six dollars an hour. That would be eighteen a week. And a month has four weeks so eighteen times four. Seventy-two dollars a month. It's not bad for a bunch of fifteen year olds."

"It's more than my imaginary allowance." Both girls say doing a highfive bursting out laughing.

"If your saving half of that. What are you going to buy with... thrity-six dollars?"

"Food." Zidan answered for the girls when he had entered the vehicle.

"Oh my gosh how'd you know?" Zuri said putting her hand over her heart and gasping.

"A wild guess." He answered shrugging.

"What do you two make anyway?" Zuri asked them.

"None of your business." Fabian answered

"Why so mean?" Jaida asked her brother.

Pulling into the parking lot they all got out of the car and went separate ways into the mall.

"You like him don't you?" Jaida asked once they were far away.

"Like who Fabian?" Zuri asked with a weirded out look on her face.

"No idi. Zidan." Zuri remained silent holding her head down trying to hide the vblush that crept up her cheek. "Knew it. He likes you too."

"But he's older than me."

"By a year."

"I'm getting Chinese food, you go to star bucks I see you dying for milk shake. Meet me but the escalator." Zuri said to her friend.

Zidan and Fabian were on the other side of the store looking at stuff they probably wouldn't buy.

"What do you think the girls are doing?" Fabian asked.

"Isn't your sister and her friend scared of clowns?" Zidan asked observing the toy in front of him.

"Thanks to you introducing them to Pennywise."

"They were eight I watched it at that age, it's a pretty good show. Is Zuri staying at your place?"

"Yea, her mother said she's staying the whole weekend to give her a break out of the house."

"Look at this." Zidan said pointing to the abandoned toy on the shelf.

"This is ludo or something?" Fabian asked looking at the boxed board game. "No wonder that's the only thing on the shelf. I think their thirty-six dollars are done by now. I'm going go cash these."

After the girls bought their food they had roughly twenty dollars left. They spent half of it on facemasks to use over the weekend.

"Girl I'm tired, let's go look for your brother."

"No need to do that. They're waiting right there." She pointed to the exit.

The road had been covered in more now there short while they had been at the mall. The road was a bit icy but easy to drive on for the car. They had decided to pile the food items on the passenger seat. Zidan was now behind the drivers seat, Jaida was in the middle and Zuri behind the passengers seat. It was easily to drive on the icy road for the car of teens, but not for the delivery truck which spun out of control and hid the passenger side of the vehicle.
