Alana and Madison were two peas in a pod. They had been best friends since eighth grade when their teacher put them on the same soccer team in gym class — they were joined at the hip after that. At school, you never saw one without the other.
When Alana realised she was a lesbian at the end of eighth grade, Madison was the first person she told. Alana had no concerns that Madison would be anything other than supportive, and she was right. Madison assured Alana that she viewed her no differently, and laughed that they would never have to fight over boys.
Their friendship hadn't even become strained when Madison started dating her long term boyfriend, Luke. Luke knew that Alana and Madison were basically a package deal. And while Alana didn't join them on their dates or third wheel their romantic moments, Luke knew that Alana held a very important place in Madison's heart as her best friend.
Alana and Madison did everything together — from shopping, to sports, to sleepovers, the latter of which they were having right now. Both of the girls were sitting cross-legged on the floor with their backs leaning against Alana's bed, a laptop perched in front of them playing the beginning of 'Not Another Teen Movie'.
"This is so fake," Madison rolled her eyes at the laptop which was portraying the main character experiencing an overly dramatic orgasm.
"It's a parody movie, Madi. Of course it's fake," Alana chuckled.
"I meant orgasms in general," Madison responded, turning to face her blonde best friend who was now staring at her, eyes wide and slack jawed.
"What?" Alana asked, leaning forward to pause the movie to ensure she heard her best friend correctly.
"Come on," Madison scoffed. "Does anyone ever actually reach an orgasm?"
"Dude, yes," Alana assured her, "Regularly."
"Oh," Madison said, looking down at her lap with a blush on her cheeks. "Well, something is wrong with me then."
"Has Luke never made you..." Alana asked Madison, and watched as the brunette shook her head. "What about while masturbating?"
"I don't masturbate," Madison said awkwardly. "Luke told me he doesn't want me to."
Alana scoffed loudly, shutting the laptop and turning to face her best friend.
"So you're telling me he doesn't make you cum, but won't let you make yourself cum?" the blonde asked incredulously, and was met with a shy gaze.
"Well," the brunette said slowly, "I fake it sometimes."
"Oh, hell no. That is not okay," Alana responded angrily. "You can't lull him into a false sense of security, making him think he makes you feel good! Have you told him to try other things?"
"I mean, yeah. But he doesn't really like doing them so he doesn't do it often," Madison admitted sadly. The more she spoke, the more she realised how plain and one sided her relationship had been for the past two years.
"Like what?" the blonde asked.
"Like oral," Madison admitted quietly.
"Excuse me?" Alana raised her voice, completely outraged at Madison's response.
"Alana!" Madison whined, "You're a lesbian. It's different for you!"
The blonde friend shook her head in disbelief. "It's really not," she replied.
"I just...I don't think I can orgasm," Madison admitted shyly, refusing to look the blonde in the eye.
There was silence between the two best friends for a few seconds, both of them trying to register what exactly was happening. Madison was trying to come to terms with the fact that orgasms were real and not some sort of enigma, and Alana was trying to come to terms with the fact that her best friend, who had been in a relationship with a man for two years, had never experienced an orgasm.
