Andrew McLean

Charlie was curled up in a ball on her bed crying and I had no idea what to do. I was very new to this whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing. Luckily, Lizzie was there to help. She sat on the other side of Charlie and rubbed her back.

"Charlie, he was a total jerk about it, it's not your fault."

"I should've listened to you guys and told him sooner." her voice was racked with sobs. "He probably hates me now!" She buried her face back into her arms and kept crying.

I pulled her into a hug and kissed the top of her head. "I think he would've reacted badly no matter where or when you told him." Charlie only responded with more tears.

"Girl, he's not worth your tears. He's not that great of a friend if he can't be happy for the two of you dating."

"I've been friends with him forever though!"

"You have been friends with him forever, but to him you've been an object that he wanted to have for himself." I told her. I wasn't sure what else to say. I've never had very many friends since I moved around so much, but I couldn't imagine losing a friend like this after being friends for three years.

Lizzie nodded, agreeing with me. Someone knocked on the door. Lizzie got up and cracked it open. "Can I come in?" I heard a voice say. Lizzie opened the door wide and Percy walked in.

"Hey kiddo." He smiled and sat on the edge of the bed. He gave me a look since I still had my arms around his daughter, but I had a feeling I'd probably be the only boyfriend he'd approve of since he's known me for so long and I'm the son of one of his best friends. "Ethan told me what happened."

"He hates me now." She sobbed.

Percy scratched the stubble on his chin, he looked tired, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he hates you for this, then was he ever a really good friend?"

"That's what everyone keeps saying." She sniffed. "I just feel like I've known him for so long, and now it's over."

"Maybe he just needs to cool off." He suggested.

She shook her head, "He won't, I know him." We sat in silence, feeling sorry for Charlie.

"Well there goes our friend group." Lizzie sighed. "Amelia will hate you if Mason hates you. And Lincoln... I'm not sure, but you have me, Ethan, and Andrew."

"Plus you have so many other friends outside of us." I told her. She nodded and wiped her eyes.

"Well I have some good news, if you want something to cheer you up." Percy suggested. Charlie lifted her head up and nodded. "Leo, Calypso, Bella, and Miles are stopping by this week so that they can go to New York with us." Percy glanced up at Lizzie.

"Really?!" Charlie's face lit up. "They aren't staying here are they?"

"No, in uh," he looked up at Lizzie again, who had no idea what we were talking about, "Oakland."

"Who are these people?" Lizzie asked.

"Leo and Calypso are friends of our parents and Bella and Miles are their kids." Charlie told her.

"Bella is our age, Miles is twelve." I added.

Growing up Cast, Ethan, Charlie, Bella, Sammy and I were an inseparable group. Cast and I were the oldest, followed by Ethan and Charlie, Bella and Sammy are both 16 and a school year behind us. Sam, or Sammy is the son of my mom's other friends, Frank and Hazel. They have another boy, Josh, who's 13 and a girl, Emmi, who's nine and Lina's best friend. So if we're counting the kids of our families there's ten of us and one more on the way.
