~After Lunch~

"What's up with your butt?" Raini asked, referring to my tiredness.

"Shut up. Don't talk about my butt," I mumbled in reply and strolled through the halls with my best friend.

Raini Rodriguez. My best friend forever. We met in kindergarten and vowed to be best friends forever. We were polar opposites; her being the outgoing, courageous one, and me being the shy, quiet one. Raini always dressed in bright, surprising colors and extraordinary outfits. While I decided to stick darker, comfier clothes. Plus, she liked being the center of attention and the girl who everyone had their eyes on. I just liked sitting quietly and being sarcastic in my head.

Raini ruffled her black-brown curly hair with pink ends and fluffed her purple tutu. "Fine, we won't talk about your butt," she replied, causing me to giggle.

I straightened my leather jacket and jokingly flipped my black hair. "You're such a dork," I joked and entered the classroom with her.

"Whatever," she chuckled and sat down at her seat.

I was always sitting up front in class, and Raini always sat in the back. I didn't like attention, but I loved learning. And I loved not getting called on. (The teachers had pretty much realized that the people who didn't wanna get called on would sit in the back, so they normally would force kids in the back to answer.)

I sat down at my seat and stuck my tongue out at her. She laughed and rolled her eyes.

Just then, Ross walked in the room. I sighed and looked down, trying to make it so he couldn't see me. He saw me anyway though. And he chose to sit right next to me. I rolled my eyes and sighed angrily.

"Hey, gorgeous," he smiled flirtatiously.

"Leave me alone," I mumbled and closed my eyes, trying to ignore him.

I could tell he was smirking though, which made me mentally gag.

And as if my life wasn't already bad enough, my worst enemy walked into the room.

Ali Dawstin. The most popular girl in school. Everybody seemed to love her and I was one of the very few people that knew what a jerk she is truly. Also know as the meanest chick in the history of mean chicks.

Ali Dawstin had ombré hair; brown at the top and blonde at the bottom. She had dark brown eyes, kinda like mine. Everyone had said we looked a lot, a lot alike. Except my hair was way darker than hers, and it was longer than hers too. Plus, I could NEVER EVER be as cruel as her.

Ali brushed in behind me, accidentally stepping on my foot. She fake gasped. "Oops, sorry, Lauren," she replied, pretending to be sympathetic.

I could see Ross roll his eyes. "It's Laura," he mumbled. I blushed slightly that he stood up for me.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Laura. My fault. Ooh, you're pretty cute, blondie," she giggled and moved to Ross.

"Ali," her boyfriend, Dustin Moon, called to her. (I think he saw her flirting with Ross.)

She shyly looked down and went over to her boyfriend, then sat in his lap and kissed him quickly.

I looked over at Ross and quickly mouthed a thank you to him. He blew me a kiss and I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Alright, students, settle down. It's time to get started," Mrs. Montgomery said to the class, writing 'LAST NIGHT'S HOMEWORK' on the board. I sighed and pulled my reading packet out of my binder. Everyone else did the same.
