I sighed, staring at the moon. Nightfall was 20 minutes ago. BEN was still gone in Jeff's room, I was still sitting on the edge of BEN's bed, waiting. Every once in a while his computer went off, but I didn't check it, it was his stuff, not mine.
Filled with boredom, I stood, opening his bedroom door. I looked left into the hallway, and right, met with a dead end. "She's just up here, I told her to stay in my room," I pricked my ears, realizing BEN was walking up the steps.
"Oh, hey, you're out. Oh, uh, Slenderman wants to talk to all of us, downstairs," He walked up to me, grabbing my wrist gently, "Come on,"
He patted the area on the couch next to him, telling me to sit down. I took a seat next to BEN, staring at all the faces around me. "Avril," Slenderman said, "Do you know how long you might stay here? You're welcome to stay here as long as you like," I don't know, I thought, I don't want to go back home.
"Uh..." I answered, "I'm not sure. I don't exactly want to go back. I'm won't be able to see my dad and my mom will be a bitch." Everyone's expressions were neutral, but Slenderman looked down for a moment, then back up at me. It felt like he was smiling, but there was no way to be sure.
"Of course," he stated, "Stay as long as you need. We're perfectly welcoming. Well, most of us." He turned his head, facing Jeff, who was glaring at me, murmuring swear words. "Anyway," he continued, "We have a spare room. You can decorate it. We have a whole closet of decorations, but if there's anything else you need don't be shy, just ask. Jeff, since you're so happy with our decision," He said sarcastically, "Why don't you show Avril to her room," Oh. My. God. Not him. I don't care if he's my pasta, he hates me. He got up, whispering me to follow.
We walked past many doors-well he walked, I ran-until we reached a final door at the end of the hall. "This is your room, don't bother me," he spoke, and left me. I turned the knob, taking in the new sight. The sunlight shown into the room from three windows-one giant window straight ahead, and two on the left side. The bed was a day bed between the windows on the left, with a tv straight across.
There was a strong knock on the door, startling me. "Its me, I'm coming in," In came BEN, casually striding in like he'd done that so many times before. "What d'you think?" He asked. I told him it was wonderful, because, like, it was. He smiled, handing me a chocolate bar, "I didn't know what you liked, but everyone likes chocolate," I thanked him, and he left, leaving me to sleep. I changed into pajamas, and snuggled into my new bed.
I was going to like it here.
Aside from Jeff, of course.

I ran for hours, deeper and deeper into the woods. I grew weaker with every step I took when finally my legs gave in. My knees buckled and I fell, hitting my head on a branch. Everything hurt now. My legs and arms ached, my lungs were burning, and m...
