Like A Knight In Shining Armor...

My head was in pain. My whole body was in pain. I moaned. If I had known it was going to hurt this much after I was dead, I would have fought harder to stay alive. I tried to sit up to take role of my injuries, but a cool hand held me down.

“Don’t move love. You will only hurt yourself further.” He voice spoke. My eyed snapped open and there he was, standing over me, a concerned look was on his face.

I looked around and saw that we were in a great golden room. I was in a bed in the middle of the room. I knew, without asking, that we were in Asgard.

“Loki?” I whispered. I was confused until I remembered what had happened. I hadn’t died at the stake. He had come like a knight in shining armor and rescued me. He had come for me.

I focused on my injuries and healed them enough so I could move about. I sat up and looked at him. I was still dazed so I allowed it, when he pulled me into his arms and held me close. We would talk later.

It was later in the day. Zane and Evangeline were with Thor down in the stables and I was with Loki and his parents in the Great Hall.

His parents were kind and understanding. The Allfather was unbelievably wise. He didn’t speak much, but I could see it in his eyes as I studied him. His eyes met mine and I knew that he knew what I was going to say.

Loki started talking to me and I turned to try to listen. I heard something about our future and everything snapped back into place.

“I’m not staying Loki.” I interrupted him. I knew my eyes were turning hot pink, like they always did when I was mad. He stopped and looked at me.

“But we can be together now. Don’t you understand? We don’t have to be apart now.” He took a step towards me and I held up my hand to stop him. I shook my head.

“Is that what you call it? Being apart?” I couldn’t believe it. Now that he knew that I was immortal he wanted me.

“Loki what is this?” the Allfather asked.

“What did he tell you? That being the loving and understanding wife I was, I just let him go?” I turned to Odin. “That would have been the case if he had told me anything at all. I would have understood completely.” I looked at Frigga then back to Loki.

“But he didn’t say a word. He just left, leaving me with an empty house and a shattered heart.” I sighed and shook my head at him as he opened his mouth to speak.

“If I had been human, would you have come to save me?” I asked, my voice was a whisper. “Would you have loved me anyways?”

The silence in the room was deafening. I nodded.       A single tear made its way down the left side of my face.

“That’s what I thought.” I said, raising my voice. I turned back to Odin, and took a deep breath.

“I will not deny him the chance to know his children, nor you your grandchildren. They can stay here six months out of the year, if you wish it. I will be going home as soon as possible.” I turned and left the Great Hall, silence in my wake.
