Imagine singing while imprisoned in Mirkwood with the dwarves and one of the elves there hearing your song and falling in love with your voice
A/N: The lyrics to Walking in the Air isn't mine and belongs to its rightful owner(s); the same goes for the video.

You weren't exactly sure what had happened to cause Gandalf to suddenly leave you and the Company to go through Mirkwood on your own - but you knew that a wizard had a lot of important things to deal with other than guiding you (a human with an impressive knowledge in healing that had proved useful when Oin's knowledge failed him) and a group of dwarves plus one hobbit. But if Gandalf wanted even one member of the Company to know about why he suddenly left he'd do something about it; otherwise it was none of your concern - and you weren't in the business of ferreting out things that wasn't of any concern to you if you could help it. You'd gotten enough of that in your home-town.
Eventually, the Company was captured by spiders - who had managed to cover all of you, save Bilbo, in their spider silk via their spinnerets after knocking you out for a time. As if that wasn't bad enough, not long after Bilbo came to the rescue, elves came and fought off the rest of the spiders before taking you and the company in as prisoners and putting everyone into separate cells. And throughout that time, all you could do was be thankful that Bilbo managed to escape this fate - but you were also hopeful that Bilbo would be a pal and lend a helping hand.
While everyone sat in their cells, twiddling their thumbs - waiting for whatever fate might meet them: be released from their cells with Bilbo's help, or to stay in there until King Thranduil decided otherwise; and you were quietly humming one of your favorite songs while you waited. Not surprisingly, one of the guards heard you and told you to hush. At least you were being treated with more respect than the dwarves - whenever one of them spoke to another, they were hushed by a guard commanding them to be silent. But after some time had passed and someone started talking again, enough was enough; and the elf who ordered Bofur to be silent was met with a very angry retort from Dwalin: "Just let us talk if we want; it's not like we're going anywhere!"
After Dwalin snarled that retort at the guard, Ori, who was in the cell next to you, asked you what song you were humming earlier. You replied "'Walking in the Air'. Why?"
"Could you please sing it?"
You were happy to oblige. You had just began to sing it when another member of the company, whose cell was across from yours, heard you singing and spoke up - asking you sing a bit louder for him and the company to hear.
So you started the song all over again as you obliged - your sweet alto singing the lyrics loud and clear for those around you to hear. And, judging from the murmurs of surprise from your fellow prisoners, your singing ability was well-received - it was also a pleasant surprise for the Elven guards on duty. In particular, the one who had politely told you to hush. He'd heard stories of mortals occasionally having voices that rivaled an elf's when singing, but he had never heard one in person until now. As you sang, he closed his eyes and focused on your beautiful voice - your beautiful alto making him smile as he lost himself in your singing.
"Walking in the air,
Floating in the sky...
Floating in the air...
We're walking in the air
We're floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly
We're holding very tight
I'm riding in the midnight blue
I'm finding I can fly so high above with you
Far across the world
The villages go by like dreams
The rivers and the hills
The forest and the streams
Children gaze open mouthed taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes
We're surfing in the air
We're swimming in the frozen sky
We're drifting over icy mountains floating by
Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
Rising up a mighty monster from its sleep
We're walking in the air
We're dancing in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly"
You had just finished singing when Bilbo appeared with the keys and let you out. When your escape, alongside that of the Company's, became known the very same guard who had enjoyed your singing promised himself that, if given the chance, he'd find you and get to know you and hopefully learn how you got so good at singing.
