Late update but it's here
"Sometimes it all gets a little too much" -Shawn Mendes
I adjust my dress a bit as I get out the car. I cross my arms over my chest and glare at Calum as he tries to put his arm around my waist.
"I don't know how else to make it up to you. I may be a nerd on the inside but that doesn't mean I can read your mind. I don't know what the hell went wrong," Calum says.
"The reason I walked away was because I was done with you but you just want to pop up everywhere. I don't have any feelings for you anymore. I moved on and I'm happier without you in my life," I tell him.
"That's not what Ashton has been telling me," he mutters.
"Then don't believe whatever the fuck he's been saying. I'm just trying to live my life and you make it complicated. Just leave me the fuck alone and make all my problems will go away," I snap.
"All of your problems. What about mine? I can't forget what we had a month ago or even more than that. I'll always remember the little things that happened between us and those memories will haunt me. Its gonna conflict with my emotions and no doubt by next week I won't be the same guy I was today.
"You're the only thing keeping me sane. I was stupid for even thinking about hooking up with Bethany. I hurt you and you want to push me away. I get that. But you'll always be there in my head. I'm not even sure if this is healthy," Calum rambles.
"Calum, we're probably the biggest divas in this city. I say we make a deal," I suggest. "How about if we can't go until the beginning of April without a huge argument then we call it all off."
"That seems reasonable. But I know for a fact that we won't be the same anymore. We'll be too distant," he admits.
"Its just something you'll have to deal with."
I dance with Beatrice, her boyfriend, and Calum until I get tired and go for punch. Calum goes to find us somewhere where we can be alone but when I come back he's with a clingy Bethany. Her face is caked in makeup and I just don't see how she looks in the mirror and its doesn't crack.
"Bethany? What are you doing here?" I ask.
"Oh well my friend couldn't make it so she gave me her ticket and Cal said that since Luke isn't here he gave it to him," Bethany answers. "Its a shame you don't have a date though."
Its a shame your boyfriend is a cheating liar. Oops.
"That's fortunate. Well, I was just leaving. I'll see you guys Monday," I tell them. Bethany is the cause of most of my problems. If I just ignore her then maybe some things will get better.
I get a text from Calum when I reach the doors of the gym where the dance is being held.
Calum- Are you mad at me again?
Me- I was walking away so the janitor wouldn't have to clean up blood, no I'm not mad
Calum- I'll see you later tonight. I have to give you something.
Me- Okay well I need to call an Uber so bye
I wake up the next morning with a smile on my face. Last night has went well with Calum and I and that's what makes me happy: not having arguments. I take a shower and get ready for the day.
I'm thinking about having a party. Its Saturday, lots of people are broke because of Valentines Day and can't go anywhere, and I'm bored. Now all I need is a house to host at.
When I'm finished eating breakfast I call Calum. He answers on the fourth ring.
"I need your help with something," I tell him.
"One word: party."
Its only been an hour and the party is in full swing. Bethany isn't here since it was an invitation only party. All I did was DM every possible person I could on Instagram and Twitter. I had to rent a lake house even though its fifty degrees outside and who would swim in this weather.
A whole bunch of drunk people are jumping into the lake and I hope I don't need to call my lawyers anytime soon.
"Hey sexy, wanna dance?" A drunk guy asks.
"Um, no thanks." I say. I spot Bethany dancing with a cup in her hand and a light bulb goes off. "But that girl over there has the hugest crush on you. She said she'll give it to you anytime," I tell the guy. He immediately leaves and goes after her.
"Dani, I have to show you something," I hear Calum say behind me but he's talking to a plant.
"Calum, honey, I'm over here. Let's go upstairs because I think you had a little too much to drink," I say. He nods as he almost stumbles over nothing. I wrap his arm around my shoulders and help him up the stairs.
Five minutes later we're finally in a room. I grab a water bottle from the mini fridge in the corner. "Drink it," I order. Calum groans but takes the bottle and drinks anyways.
"You look beautiful tonight," he slurs.
"Really because I didn't try at all," I respond.
"Well maybe that's why," he mutters before he falls asleep on my shoulder.
I sit there for a while, my fingers combing through his hair as I think about what he just said to me. I don't need to try so hard at a lot of the things I do to be better than everyone else.
It's just the thought that if I try harder I'll be better but in reality it really isn't.
Short chapter I know but I kind of ran out of ideas. Since I'm planning on finishing this story by mid April I'm going to update twice a week. K bye
