Chapter Twenty-Two

From what Marcus and I saw, the fight was brutal. Blood stained the road pretty quickly, but the most impact that happened was Eva being torn to pieces. It was traumatizing for both Marcus and I. I could only imagine how Holly was feeling right now. Her brother had gotten attacked first by one of Eva's wolves. The other wolf had ran off before anything could happen to him. We couldn't exactly see where Lyric was, but we did know that he had taken some bad hits. If anything, we hoped that he was alright.

All the thoughts of Dragonview immediately drained from my head, and got replaced by worries about Lyric and Holly. Before she told us to hide, she seemed as if she was ready to rip someone's head off in human form. I noticed right away how her eyes glowed a dark yellow color, while her pupils thinned quickly. Did her anger trigger her transformation? If so, what could possibly happen if Marcus and I make one of them mad? That was a question I did not want to find an answer to. Besides, there wouldn't be a reason to make them mad at us. They were so kind to help guide us to Dragonview. We didn't really have a choice anyway. Even if we did, I would still go to just get the answers.

"What is going through your head at this moment?" asked Marcus, feeling his gaze on me. I turned my head to look at him, and then smiled. "You go through my head a lot, but I'm worried for Lyric." I replied, my smile dissipating. I saw Marcus nod his head in the darkness. He didn't like seeing people get hurt. Neither did I, but Marcus took it a lot more serious than I did. He fought back though, since he did it for me when Joel was hurting me.

I reached over and grabbed his hand, being careful in the tree branch. He took my hand and squeezed gently. "We're going to get through this together." I told him, leaning over to kiss his cheek. He quickly turned his head and our lips met. The fireworks that went off in my head were phenomenal. All of the beautiful greens, whites, reds, blues, and purples were clearly visible in my head. Every kiss we had was breathtakingly beautiful. He made my heart race and my body reacted the same way. I was completely in love with Marcus, and no one was ever going to change that.

We pulled away, resting our foreheads on each other. If I could stop time and be with Marcus, I would do it in a heartbeat. I knew in my heart that I didn't want to be with anyone else but Marcus. I know that I'm still young to understand soulmates, but I felt like Marcus was my soulmate. I looked into his eyes and smiled. He smiled back, as he pulled me into his arms for a hug. It was a really weird hug, since we were on a tree branch. After our hug, I rested my head on his shoulder, looking up at the stars.

"This is an amazing night." I said. The night sky was cloudless, so the stars and moon shined brightly in the sky. "Yes it is. It is a beautiful night." he answered, pulling me in closer. "Are you two done up there?" shouted Holly, ruining our little moment. Marcus and I started to laugh at her. "That's a way to ruin a moment, Holly." I shouted back, shaking my head. I could hear her laughing down at the base of the tree. "Well, I need you two to come down. Someone is here to explain what happened." she replied, moving back towards the road.

I looked up at Marcus. "I didn't realize she transformed back into human form." I said, in a shocking tone. Marcus shrugged his shoulders. "It's hard to see anything from far away, so maybe we just didn't see it." he explained, taking his arm off me. That could have been a reason. Who was here to explain everything? Was it someone who was with Eva's pack? A lot of questions were still going through my head, and the quicker I got out of this tree, the faster I got the answers.

Marcus was the first to get down. He always went first because if I lost my footing on the tree, I would have someone catch me. He got to the ground and then nodded at me. He always nodded at me whenever it was okay to start moving. I started my way down the tree, noting where the strongest and weakest branches were. As I moved down, Marcus watched every step and shouted whenever I would make a wrong step.
