An hour later, Sasha and I were up and running downstairs into my bedroom. We were squealing and jumping up and down with excitement.
"I can't believe Sawyer likes me!"
"He thinks your beautiful!"
My cheeks turned red. I stopped jumping and took a minute to smile.
"You're blushing", said Sasha, starting another squealing rant.
"No ones ever called me beautiful before."
Sasha immediately stopped jumping. "Are you kidding me?"
"Were you ignoring all the times that Kayla, Miley, and Addison called you beautiful?"
"And let's not forget Tyson, Scotty, and Jayden who have been crushing on you for years!"
"Okay, okay. I have been called beautiful before."
There was a faint buzz coming from my back pocket. It was my phone. I took it out. I had gotten a text from Sawyer. I read it out loud to Sasha.
"Hey Brianna. Kayla invited me to her Summer party tomorrow and said you were gonna be there."
I jerked my head up to look at Sasha. She did the same.
"I am so going to kill Kayla."
"Oh my God, this is great!"
"Yeah! You could tell him how you feel!"
"There is no way."
"Oh come on! He likes you too, so you don't have to be afraid of getting rejected!"
I gave Sasha an offended look.
I sighed and looked down at my phone. "Fine, I'll tell him."
I texted Sawyer back.
Hey Sawyer! I am going to be there! I'm so happy that you're gonna be there too! 😸
I put my phone back in my pocket. There was an awkward silence wavering around the room. Sasha slowly started walking out of my room.
"Well, I better get going."
"Okay. Let me walk you out."
We ran upstairs and walked out into the beautiful warm weather. Sasha's black bike was burning hot from sitting in the sun.
"Seat warmer", said Sasha.
I laughed so hard it felt like my sides were splitting.
Waving her off, there was another buzz coming from my back pocket. I took out my phone, and saw another text from Sawyer. It read:
You're excited? Really? And why is that?
My heart started pounding, mind racing.
Because you're my best guy friend. Why wouldn't I be excited? 😺
I took a deep breath in, and put away my phone. I walked back inside and plopped myself on the couch. Laying down, I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off.
