Chapter Nine

I stared at Marionette what seemed to be an eternity. I quietly got up and still looked at Marionette while he looked down.

“Why?” I asked quietly. He shook his head and opened the door more, letting me in. Once he closed the door I immediately hugged him tightly resting my chin on his shoulder. I didn’t want to let go yet and he hesitantly hugged back as if he we afraid of me. “So,” I wanted to ask him why he hid it, but I didn’t want to push it, so I closed my mouth. He looked up timidly.

“Wh-what?” I shook my head.

“It’s….Nothing.”

“N-no, I wanna know-” he sniffled once more and untangled himself from the embrace. I sighed.

“Well...I was wondering….You don’t have to answer...but..” Marionette looked away sheepishly, knowing what was coming. “W-why did you hide my guitar…?” He looked back up at me, and I noticed how shiny his eyes looked again.

“I-I…” He buried his head in my shoulder again, and his voice came out muffled. “I had a vision…” he gulped and looked up. “That Bonnie was gonna….Gonna… He was gonna smash it..But then I woke up...and didn’t know why…” He hugged me for a few seconds and then looked up, hopeful that I would understand. I smiled and he blinked in relief.

“Marionette?” I heard Goldie call out. “You oka- oh hi Bonnie.” Marionette and I jumped apart

“Y-yes? What is it?” Marionette asks, stuttering.

“Ya okay?” Goldie is leaning against the door, a knowing smile  on his face. Marionette nodded slightly and gave a small smile then slowly his eyes widened and looked away finally aware of his face visible to Goldie. Goldie stared at Marionette and laughed. “Don’t be so self conscious, we’re your friends and we don’t mind.” he grinned at Marionette when he looked up. I also gave a smile at him and he seemed to relax more but sadness still was in his eyes. Goldie grin grew more as he walked in and ruffled Marionette’s hair.

“Stahp!” he whined.

“Nope. Anyways, dun worry okay? But here..” he offered out his mask which he took quickly and put it on. I smiled beside the doorway and walked to my room. I just needed to mull over everything that’s happened over the last few hours. I pushed my door open with a sigh, I was hungry, but just didn’t have the mental ability to converse with anyone.

“Hey, Bonnie…” I jump, not noticing that Spark had been sitting on my bed.

“Oh, hi Spark.” I say quietly.

“You alright?”

“No.”

“Why?”

“It’s just-” I pause, not really sure myself. “Well...Marionette-” a grin spreads across her face.

“You like him.” She said plainly.

“What?! N-no!!” I immediately blushed and stuttered enough for her not to believe me.

“Uh huh..” She winked. “I know how much you care for him, and that shows how ya like him.” She smiled. “I’m glad you found someone ,” She paused, as if to go on, but just left it there. I had a feeling she knew I used to like her, but couldn’t be sure. “Well, don’t worry. I’m sure he feels the same; why else did he not push you away last night?” If it was even possible my face lit up even more.

“Y-you know?!”

She giggled. “Of course! I was here last night, but everyone was sleeping, so I just wandered, and I noticed you two sleeping. It was adorable!” She gushed while I face planted on my bed with an embarrassed groan.

“Sh-shuddup....” I mumbled through my pillow while she got up and headed to the door.

“Unless ya take that back, I’ll tell everyone you like Marione-”

“NOOO!” I leapt off my bed and clung to her side in a fashion very similar to the way Marionette does it. “I’M SORRY! I’M SORRY! JUST DON’T TELL ANYONE!” I cry out, burying my once again blushing face into her side.

“Of course! See you do like him!” She pats my head while I once again groaned.

Someone calls from outside my door. My eyes widen and she turns her head.

“Yea?”

“Don’t you want to come eat the wonderful pancakes ya made?”

“I am, just gimme a minute!” She looks at me.

“Okay, just hurry up! I haven’t seen you, and I want to spend time with ya!” Oh. It’s Bonnie. My eyes narrow. If he heard this conversation, my life is officially freaking screwed.

In the afternoon I woke up to a soft knock on my door.

“Yea?” I lifted my head groggily and stared at the door. "Come in!"

“HI!” Marionette pounced onto my bed, in a much better mood than earlier.

“Marionettteeee-” I groaned, a hand to my head. “Can you lower your voice, I just barely woke up..”

“Oh..sorry..” He whispered.

"Not that low just don't yell." I grinned and ruffled his hair. He pouted while I chuckled.

"So, what do we do now?"

“Well, ya haven’t eaten! You just went to sleep….Sooo….I saved my pancakes for you..” he said shyly.

“Awww thanks Marionette!” I sat up and hugged him.

“Yay hugs!” He chirped. I released him from my death grip and he jumped to the floor. “Come on, don’t be a slow poke! RACE YA!” With that, he bolted out the door, leaving me dumbfounded. I smiled and threw the covers back, jumping to the floor and chasing after him.  When I reached the kitchen, I saw him waiting, and holding a plate of pancakes.

“I win!" He grinned and gave me the plate which I happily took from his grasp. The kitchen was vacant except for us, so I didn’t need to fight anyone over the syrup. Once I had poured a decent amount onto them, I walked over to a little table Marionette was sitting at.

"Hey Marionette. You want some?" I offered and pushed the plate to him. He looked at it for a few moments, then nodded and took one of the forks. I picked up my own fork  and took a bite. Marionette tried to take a piece, but was having trouble getting it off. “Here.” I offered, cutting up the pancake into pieces. He smiled in thanks. We ate in silence for the next few minutes, until there was just one left. I wasn't really paying attention; I was just staring off into space, so when I heard the clang of two forks hitting against each other, it drew me back.

“Y-you can have it.” Marionette said quickly. I shook my head.

“No, these were originally yours, so you can have it.”

“But-” I shushed him when I stabbed the last piece and put it in his open mouth. His eyes went wide, and he just sat there, my fork still in his mouth.

“Marionette, eat it, I want my fork back.” I teased. He blinked a few times and then started to chew it, and I pulled my fork out of his mouth. He just sat there, dumbfounded for a few moments while I smiled.

“Wai-what? Why?” He stumbled over his words in the haste to get them out.

“Cause’.” He shook his head, trying to collect everything. Once realization hit him, he had a huge grin on his face and he reached across the table to hug me. I hugged him, but then pulled back. “Uhhh, Marionette… You have..Something on you…” He looked down and groaned.

“Darn syrup,” He muttered.

“Here.” I got up and got a paper towel. I handed it to him, and he took it gratefully.
