___Chapter Nineteen___

Jamie’s POV

“Jamie!” I hear Hunter yell. I turn around and wave at him, chuckling as he bumps into some 9th graders. Soon he is beside me, walking through the hallways while wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

“Where are you heading?”

I look at him questioningly, “To class, like you should be.”

“You are such a good girl.”

He pinches my cheeks playfully. I slap them away, chuckling slightly.

“And you’re a bad boy but you don’t see me complaining.”

“C’mon ditch fifth period with me.” Hunter nudges me as we enter the classroom.

“I hate school and all, but I still wanna graduate.”

“It’s not like I’m forcing you to drop out. Just skip with me. I want to show you something.” Hunter says, taking a seat beside me. I tap my pencil on the table, lost in thought.

“Please!” Hunter begs loudly. He makes pouting face and I try my best to not give in.

“You know you can’t resist these eyes!” He widens his eyes and continues to beg loudly.

Don’t stare at the eyes. Don’t give in Jay!

“Pretty please with a juicy cherry on top?’ He bats his eyelashes playfully.

But he looks so innocent…

“Fine.” I groan. “But we better be back before last period.”

Hunter smiles widely, practically jumping out of his seat.

“You’re ditching with Hunter?” Nicole asks loudly. Kate quickly nudges her, giving her a look.

“Yeah, I guess. I mean at first I didn’t want to.”

“You can’t skip! You’re finally getting the hang of homework!” Alexis says.

I glance at her, “I know! But I already said yes and-”

“You said yes! Whenever I ask you to ditch, you say no. I swear Jay, you’re head over heels for Hunter and-”

“Woah, woah, woah! Back the truck up! Who said I have a crush on him?” I whisper harshly. They exchange knowing looks before laughing.

“Isn’t it obvious? The way you look at him-”

“The way you laugh at everything  he says-”

“And the fact that you’re ditching with him.” They say in unison. I roll my eyes at the giggling girls.

“I so do not like him.” I gather my things waiting for the bell to ring.

“You can’t deny it.” Nicky hums before the bell rings and she exits the room.

I meet up with Hunter at his locker and automatically regret it.

“Are you ready?” He smirks. I simply nod.

What am I getting  myself into?

“Ready than I’ll ever be?” I force a smile.
