For a moment, I forget why I am even there,
outside,
stuck in the middle of an alleyway—
a human clog in the wandering crowd.

I hesitate for a moment, and then,
slowly,
I drag my feet home.

I am in no hurry,
there is no-one to welcome me there anyway.
