Chapter Twenty-Seven| Dario
💰I storm through Leona's office. She jumps and looks at me with wide eyes.
"Rio?" She questions, furrowing her eyebrows. "What are you doing here?"
"He's Christian's nephew." I blurt out and her eyes widen.
"W-Who?" She whispers.
"Cane! He's marrying you and then he's going to divorce you for half of your money." I admit to her and she just sighs and covers her face with her hands.
I hear her sniffle and I instantly feel bad. Maybe I should have explained in a more appropriate way.
She pulls her hands away to reveal her tear-stained cheeks.
"Why me?" She sniffles, wiping her eyes. "What have I done so wrong in this world to be treated like this?" She whimpers and I rush over to her, caressing her face as she looks up at me with sad eyes.
"I'm sorry, baby. I'm so sorry. You deserve the world and I promise you, I'm going to make him pay for his mistakes." I reassure her and she leans back into her chair.
"I'm so stressed with everything, I just need a break." She stresses and my heart breaks for her. "What am I going to tell him, Rio? He won't be happy, I'm scared." She gives me pleading eyes and I pick her up, sitting her on top of her desk and then step between her legs.
"I'm going to see Logan, come with me. He's been asking about you." I whisper, stroking her cheek and she smiles gently. "It will take your mind off of things."
"Okay." She nods, grabbing her bag and a huge grin etches onto my face.
"Really?" I question with wide eyes and she nods again.
"Anything to take my mind off of all this." She says and I just stare down at her in admiration.
"You're so beautiful." I state, stroking her soft cheek. "You left me this morning, why? Did you go back home to him?" I tilt my head and she gulps.
A sigh of relief escapes my lips, however, when she shakes her head.
"I got ready here, I didn't want to be a bother. You've already done enough for me yesterday." She shrugs and I furrow my eyebrows.
"I did the bare minimum, Leona. I owe you a lot more than some pasta and a bed." I say in disbelief and she shrugs again.
"Should we get going?" She smiles, hopping off of the desk.

Leona
We walk through the children's hospital and I jump a little when Dario grabs hold of my hand. I can feel the butterflies begin to flutter around in my stomach.
"I warn you, Logan is very......honest." Rio chuckles and I smile gently. "He's a great boy."
"Is it-Is it terminal?" I question and Dario shakes his head.
"It's a brain tumour but it was spotted early, he's having surgery in the next couple of weeks." I nod my head as we continue to walk.
All of the nurses we walk past stare with a warm smile and I nervously look down at the ground.
We soon stop outside a room and Dario knocks before slowly entering and I stay behind him. My heart breaks as I see a little boy fast asleep in a pair of Iron Man pyjamas. His hair has been shaved and my heart breaks a little more when I realise how much he's been through at such a young age.
