This is the continuation that I am working on. We'll not really the continuation but more of what happened prior.
Cale couldn’t sleep.
He was hot. He was sweating, even though it’s almost winter season, but not just that. He was itchy. No position was comfortable. His skin felt sensitive, like the fabric of the sheets was scratching him. His clothes felt too tight despite the cloth being loose enough to slip off his shoulder. His throat was dry as the Desert of death.
He needed water.
Cale managed to slip out of bed with practiced ease without waking up the children averaging twelve years old who was curled close to him, especially during this cold season. Even Raon, who was naturally sensitive to the movements around him, did not wake up.
The cool water managed to relieve the irritation that had been bothering Cale. The remaining problem now is that he can’t sleep.
He looked outside. The moon was still up high in the sky, and Cale doesn’t feel like just laying still in bed while being wide awake the entire night. Going outside of his room is also not an option. Not with a swordmaster, an archmage, and an assassin who would be aware of the movements inside their home. Cale certainly doesn't want to bother the other resident in the Super Rock villa in the dead of night just to stave off his boredom.
While he was mulling over what to do for the entirety of the night until he felt like going back to sleep, a person suddenly came to mind—one who is usually awake and working at this time of the night.
Cale rummaged through one of the drawers, putting on some simple clothes and looking for one of the transportation scrolls that Raon made. He ripped it in half when he found one.
“Human?” Raon yawned. The young dragon woke up when he felt the magic of the transportation scroll. “Are you going to the crown prince again?”
“Yes,” Cale whispered in a hushed tone, not wanting to wake up On and Hong as well. “I’ll be back soon.”
“Alright,” Raon mumbled before going back to sleep. He used to accompany Cale on his late-night trips to visit Alberu whenever he can’t sleep in the night because he had slept the entire morning away. Raon only stopped insisting on accompanying Cale when Sherritt advised him that he needed his good sleep if he wanted to grow. Besides, there was nothing to worry about anymore regarding Cale’s safety which was why he could sleep with ease.

One of the more unfortunate things about being the Emperor was the work politics, or rather- the needlessly extravagant events thinly veiled as networking. It was nothing more than a pissing contest for nobles to show off their wealth and power. A room was full of nobles who were nothing more than knotheads with big egos and the ability to cause nothing but problems. It was hours of small idle chatter and fathers pushing their daughters to him for marriage at best, gossip at the worst, and if he had to get into one more low key argument with another person, he was going to cut them off out of spite.
Oh, how Alberu wish that he could leave and sort out the documents that were left in his office. He would prefer being stuck in his office working on things that held more importance for the Roan empire than this waste of time social gatherings. He took out his pocket watch and flipped it open. At this time, he would like to be back in his room and get some decent rest.
“Your Highness,” said a familiar voice.
Alberu snapped the pocket watch shut with a distinct ‘click’ and turned around, “Marquis Stan,” he said with a signature business smile. “I didn’t expect you to attend this ball.”
