The sudden shrill, overly chipper voice of the other Head Maid Pat Boomed from the other side of the door, accompanied by raucous knocking and honestly?....
You wanted to Die right then and there.
Here you were. Standing in the middle of the high end bedroom/Suite with a naked man customer...
You could practically kiss your job goodbye.

Looking to the man with a wide eyed look of terror, the man merely looked at you with a bored and only mildly irritated expression and promptly walked to the door, still naked and reached for it... Only for you to panic and slap his outstretched hand away.

"What are you, crazy?!" You hissed. "Do you want to catch a fucking sexual harassment charge or be labeled at the very least as a pervert?!"

"How would that even be the first thing on your mind to be concerned about?" He mused, batting your own hand away from the door as well. Thankfully the two of you whispering wouldn't have been able to be heard over Pat's hollering. "And on top of that, we're in a private room. If anything, that screaming monkey is the wrong one. Is entering an occupied room on no grounds not an invasion of privacy?"

"Well... Yes but-" you protested, flipping through your mental manual on just what you could possibly say to dissuade him but the man was already shoving you out of sight of the door and flinging it callously open as if he wasn't stark naked at all...

Predictably, Pat let out a noise like a mouse being stepped upon and you face palmed and dragged your hand down your cheek in sheer Vicarious mortification.

"Wh-Wha-?"

"This room is still occupied. Your services are not needed. Leave." He deadpanned in a near robotic voice that made you shiver...

Shit... If you thought he was a little rude to you...

"I-I-I um... Uh... I uh.... Is.... Did... Right! But um..."

"Are you deaf or does this establishment employ the Mentally Handicapped also?"

Ouch.

"No!... B-but um... Did... Did a girl c-come up here a while ago?... I-I'm just l-l-looking for my co-worker, you see.'

"A woman knocked a little while ago. She had the sense to not come inside though. Does your ledger not honestly have a way to tell whether or not a room is occupied?"

"Y-yes sir it does but-"

"So you just enter uninvited and invade a guest's privacy regardless?"

"Look, I-I'm really really sorry sir," the poor woman wheedled, sounding like she was seriously about to cry. "But I'm just trying to find my co-worker! I-Ill send up complimentary amenities. Anything you want at all just please don't tell my supervisor. She'd kill me!"

You resisted the urge to scoff. It wasn't necessarily that you didn't believe the man when he told you he was an assassin but you still would be keeping a hearty amount of Skepticism... but if he WAS telling the truth...Oh the irony of telling an assassin that someone ELSE would kill you... Even still, as annoying and conniving as Pat could be, you most felt bad for her...
Almost.

"As I said. She knocked fifteen minutes ago. I told her I was still here. She left. Now get out." He replied icily and suddenly slammed the door shut.

You jumped slightly at the force and felt a small twinge of pity rise in your stomach.

Damn.

You opened your mouth to say something but the man motioned for to stay silent with his hand.
For a moment, neither of you said a word and then it occurred to you that he was listening for footsteps.
Pat was a thin, willowy woman but even still, you always thought she walked around like a fucking elephant, stomping down the halls in her low heels and sometimes chewing loudly on gum. It wasn't exactly hard to hear her... But at the same time at this moment, it felt like you were listening for mouse heartbeats.
There was nothing but silence. And for whatever reason, this scared you.
