Author's POV

Vanama Devi pulled her hidden sword from her belongings, she hid on the side of palenquin and was ready to face anything.
Shortly after her palenquin's screen was removed, a tall figure was peeked inside her palenquin, his arms were so strong. His eyes checked for Rajamadha, he was about to turn to her side.

Immediately she covered his face with a cloth and punched on his face. She threatened him by keeping sword on his neck and warned him to not to move further or do anything stupid, he didn't do such. She cleverly walked out of palenquin holding him in her captivity. She found something fishy, she couldn't see his face in the darkness but he looked familiar to her, she was confused.

She stood firmly as well as carefully, she watched other guards who came along with him, all look stronger and wise. She warned them to not to step out from their place, they obliged. She was surprised and with a thought she pressed the sword on his throat and asked,
"Who are you??"
He chuckled but didn't reply. She pressed the sword more in his throat, he flinched in pain and said,
" Amma are you going to kill your own son??"

" Kesava" Rajamadha exclaimed and immediately took off her sword from his throat. Instantly he removed the cloth covered his face and smiled wider. He touched her feet to take her blessings, she blessed him for long live by keeping her hands on his head.

" Kesava , when did you return?? And why did you try to scare me?? " Asked Rajamadha.

" Forgive me Rajamadha, I didn't try to scare you. Not only me none can scare my Rajamadha, who is also my beloved mother. I won't let anyone harm you" said Kesava with a tears in his eyes. Rajamadha got emotional and was on happy tears to know her adopted son's love for her, she caressed his face.

"Kesava, when did you return??
How did you come here??
Who told you I'm here??
Did you goto palace after your long journey??" Asked Rajamadha without a break.

"Amma I returned to Madurapuri only by today noon, I was in my way to our palace. But suddenly I recieved an information from trusted sources, that someone was planning to attack you tonight. So I reached this place without a delay. Thank god nothing wrong happened " said Kesava hugging his mother.

"Attack on me?? Who can do that?? " Asked Rajamadha.

" That I will find soon Amma, give me sometime. I heard some jackals are in our kingdom, it might be there work" said Kesava with a thought. Rajamadha was in deep thought.

" Amma from now on  we will not travel in this forest route instead we will travel through the village roads, maybe we will reach second quarter of night" said Kesava looking at the moon.

"But, Kesava our enemies will be waiting for me in this forest route. Now they will be alerted if they didn't find me or my palanquin on the way" said Rajamadha.

" Don't worry Amma, I arranged everything. From now on you will travel in another palanquin and I will come with you in disguise. Also we will send my trusty man in your palanquin with some of the other warriors in this forest route, they will find those culprits and then we will teach them a lesson" said Kesava.

Rajamadha accepted her son's words smiled a little and nodded her in anticipation.

" Amma how is my brother and sister in law?? And how is my niece?? I returned soon to see our princess "
said Kesava excitedly.

Rajamadha's smile vanished immediately then soon she managed to convince him with her answers, which was also noticed by Kesava but he didn't show up to her.

They both started to travel towards palace, Kesava took incharge of her safety and rided on his horse infront of her palanquin. They didn't stop anywhere and reached the palace as they expected.

Rajamadha adviced him to take rest and come back tomorrow morning to see their family members. Kesava left to his chamber and started to wait for his beloved friend Veeran, who was in charge of palanquin and went in Rajamadha's palanquin by hiding his identity.

***********************************

Rajamadha's palanquin was traveling in the deep forest, the forest was in dead silence, it's unusual silence without any animal sounds will shake anyone's brave heart and they may get scare atleast for a moment.

The moon was going to reach the top so, the time was almost midnight. All the soldiers were slowly walking but carefully holding the palanquin, as Kesava instructed they didn't stop anywhere or put the palenquin down on the ground.

Within a short moment an arrow pierced a soldier's turban and hit the oak tree near him. All soldiers were stunned and stood there firmly by holding the palanquin tightly.

" Put down your weapons and also put the palenquin down or else like the turban all your head will roll on the ground" a voice echoed beyond the tree.
