"guys, look who I brought!" A seventeen year old boy shouted, walking through the un busy street and towards where he was supposed to meet his classmates, proudly showing everyone the young kid he was holding, who was looking curiously at the rest of the students "Meet Y/N!"

"DUDE YOU BROUGHT A BABY?!" Hizashi shouted, while the blue haired boy, Oboro, nodded

"Babana?" Y/N asked, pointing at the blonde, making her brother snort

"Nope! He's not a banana!"

"So... You kidnapped a kid" Hizashi blurted out

"This is my sister-"

"For a second I thought she was your kid" Nemuri laughed

"So Uhm.... Why did you bring a kid?" Shota asked again

"My parents are forcing me to watch over her. And since I'm a responsible brother, I brought her with me!" Oboro shouted

"Great."

"Tensei, you too?" Nemuri asked, seeing that another of his classmates had appeared with another child, but in a baby harness. Of course, Oboro and Hizashi gasped

"They can become baby-friends!" They shouted

"Oh my God imagine putting them in matching clothes and them being best friends and-" Nemuri started

"Well shit-"

"Shota! Not in front of the kids!" Tensei shouted

"You just sounded like my mom whenever my father cursed when I was a child" Nemuri laughed "and that's why my first word was the uncensored version of frick" she ended her story, standing proudly with her hands on her hips. Meanwhile, both children, Y/N and Tenya, were staring at each other, before the former playfully stuck out her tongue, making the latter giggle, both of them asking their respective brothers to be put down

"Wait so you are telling me that to become friends with someone you have to stick your tongue out?" Hizashi asked, questioning how the heck kids logic worked. He just looked at Shota and stuck out his tongue

"Is that your way of saying you want to be just friends or something like that?" The ravenette asked. Oboro stared at them, before starting to howl

"FOR HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN THIRD-WHEEELING WITHOUT KNOWING IT?!"

"Is your brother ok...?" Tenya whispered

"I don't know" Y/N answered, holding his hand, and staring at her older brother screaming.
It was safe to say, those two kids became very close friends in a heartbeat, but...
Not all that happiness would last for long tho. The news of Oboro's death were something that devastated and scarred his family. For Y/N, as a child that could barely comprehend simple concepts, it was hard to understand what was going on, and, more so, the concept of death. She didn't understand it at all, but she did understand that it meant not seeing Oboro again.
Years went by, with Y/N and her dearest friend, whom she developed a friendly rivalry with, continuing to stick together. Even if her family moved back to their hometown: a small village close to Musutafu, where her grandmother lived. Still, her parents conserved their jobs, which lead to them sometimes spending months in Musutafu.
And of course, Shota, Hizashi, Nemuri and Tensei came once in a while to see how the family was doing, and talk to Y/N, usually about Oboro. At some point, her grandmother, Yume, gave her a few things her brother owned, mostly clothes, a few album photos, and diaries he wrote for her.
When she was twelve, her grandmother decided to take the matter in her own hands, and started training Y/N, and Tenya, whenever he visited. This, of course, caught the eye of a local pro-hero group, that had a tendency for visiting the small and pacific town to check everything was going alright, and to buy some groceries, or just whatever they needed. That's when they spotted the training girl, and decided to talk to Yume about recommending her for UA, or other hero schools when she was old enough

"Her parents won't approve of her attending a hero school next year, so she's training to prove them she can do it" Yume answered, as her and the group of four heros talked, sitting in the traditional porch

"Poor kid..." Tomoko sighed, leaning on her hand, as she looked at the young girl stabbing a training dummy with her quarterstaff. That's when they decided that, if she didn't receive her parents'approval, they would make her a hero themselves. After all, they were qualified to do so.
Maybe, just maybe, things wouldn't be so bad after all.
Y/N was going to take her brother's legacy for her, and make it her future, with just one difference. She wouldn't let herself be killed or degraded. She would make it, and she would make it alive, no matter the difficulties. That's what led the heros to doing what she did. Not only her ability, but her undying determination.
