(The next day, at Basil's house.)

Basil slid his glasses up his nose with a finger. He stacked the papers on his desk. "So... what your telling me is that you accidentally summoned a demon to this world by touching a rock and now it is loose because you told it that you were going to send it back into its hellish dimension because you didn't like it here, and then it got sad and mad then ran away?" Ivy and Griffin sat stiffly on Basil's bed. Griffin coughed awkwardly, and Ivy all of a sudden found interest in Basil's short, soft blue carpet. "Well- w-when you p-put it like that-" Ivy stuttered. "Yeah. We did. And we need your help. Could you help us?" Ivy passed a thankful look at Griffin, and Basil responded with a sigh. "Okay, but this will cost you." Ivy and Griffin looked at each other, realization and annoyance filled their expressions. They already knew before they asked, but they asked anyways. Ivy sighed. "What do you want in return?" Basil grinned slightly, chuckling softly. "I require The Disastrous life of Demon Slayer. Volume 6, to be exact. I almost have the complete series, but just happen to be missing that particular volume." Basil grinned, and Ivy rolled her eyes. "Fine. Consider it done. " Basil grasped Griffin's hand and shook it furiously. "Alright, whats the plan?"

(Time skip bc im lazy =w=)

Basil sat crouched behind a bush, waiting. Next to him were ivy and Griffin. Ivy being a bit worried the plan wouldn't work, and Griffin holding his hatchet next to a rope that was connected to a complex network of a mouse trap, per se, that was heavily camouflaged to almost complete invisibility. it had been almost a week since Splink ran into the woods. They tracked her down with much difficulty, and found that she had made a little fort of sorts. There were lots of berries and nuts in her fort but they could tell she was getting hungry. So they found a good area near her fort and set up a pile of food, not too much to alert suspicion but enough to seem like a small amount of food that had fallen from someone's backpack. The trap was on a trail, and the bait consisted of a sandwich in a baggie, trail mix and a water bottle. They had been waiting a while now and Ivy started to think that Splink would never come. Basil agreed that it was a simple and not really creative. Griffin told them both to stop worrying and said to believe that it would work. They bickered a bit, then quieted down when they heard a nearby bush rustle. But it was just a squirrel. Griffin stayed still as not to mess up the trap. The squirrel ate some of the sandwich, to everyone's dismay. But they continued to wait, now in silence. Two hours or so had passed when they heard something other than the chirp of crickets and chirp of birds. They waited, and saw that Splink walked onto the trail. She looked around cautiously, then walked down the trail. Then she saw the bait. She froze, then slowly walked towards it. But quicker than the kids had anticipated, she took the food and quickly climbed into a tree. Unfortunately, Griffin was so startled that he didn't cut the rope in time. She looked like she freaking teleported into the tree and the food just disappeared!!! But fortunately, she climbed in the tree holding the net rope trap. Ivy stared at the situation in pure confusion and Basil suddenly started yelling at Griffin to now cut the rope. Griffin panicked more and started bickering with Basil, but cut the rope. Splink became startled and tried to "teleport" away but the rope was surprisingly quicker, to everyone's surprise. Then quicker than everyone could process, Splink was dangling in the middle of the trail in a large rope net. Splink quickly regained her focus and tried to get out of the rope. But it became tighter and the ropes tied more densely together. Splink made a noise like a grumpy cat then finally gave up on trying to escape. But she did inhale the bait.

Basil and Griffin sighed with relief and Ivy stared in disbelief. Splink scowled at them through the net. "Well uh, I guess we did it. I think that we should talk though, before we start to figure out how to send her back." Griffin stared at Splink uncertainly. Splink sighed and stared at them hopelessly. "Please... don't send me back. You don't know what it's like there... Its more depressing than you could ever imagine. I just wanted to see color for once... Shadows... texture... smell... sounds... I wanted to have a happy, NORMAL life... But there is nothing but suffering in my dimension." Ivy stared at her sympathetically. She whispered to Griffin, "She just like us. A kid. Maybe all she wants is to be peaceful...?" Griffin looked conflicted. He now wanted to help Splink, but he also knew that people would freak out and would not take her kindly. He also knew that demons could be tricksters. He didn't quite know what to do. Basil on the other hand was glad that it was all over and was looking forwards to getting his new manga. "Well! I think that the first step is to go back to the fort. But uh... please don't run off again Splink. How about this- we will make a deal with you. You don't run away, and we wont be mean and rough with you or find a way to get you home, just yet. Does that sound good?" Splink looked uncertainly at them, but slowly shoved her hand out of the net to seal the deal with a classic handshake. Basil and Griffin smiled, and Ivy looked into Splink's sad, tired, grey eyes with wonder. "You owe me manga, Griffin." Basil said with a wide grin. Griffin rolled his eyes and cut down the rope net. Splink stood up slowly, then walked to them. Ivy held Griffin's hand and walked down the path with Splink in front of them, and Basil in the front. "I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship, don't you think?" Basil said, still grinning. Ivy smiled and Splink seemed slightly less tense. They walked down the path as the sun shown brightly on them through the dappled leaves.
