The vampire is an outsider. He's the perfect metaphor for those things. He's someone who looks human and sounds human but is not human, so he's always on the margins

Louis was in the Emergency Room getting checked up when Troy came running in. "Louis, are you ok?" Troy said worryingly, looking at Louis. He turned to look at the person who almost hit Louis, saying they were gonna talk later.

Louis was fine and tried to tell his dad that. "I'm fine dad, calm down" he was confused and just wanted to talk to Harry about what happened. It was then a man in a Doctors coat came in, "I heard the chief's daughter was here". Troy hummed, "Doctor Styles" he said in greeting,

Louis was shocked, this man couldn't be older than 30. 'This family doesn't age do they' Louis thought amusingly. Doctor styles greeted his father back, taking over for the nurse who had been checking on him.

"Louis, it looks like you took a spill. How do you feel?" he asked Louis, pulling a small flashlight out. He proceeded to check his eyes, blinding Louis with the bright light. "Look here. You might experience some post-traumatic stress, disorientation, but your vitals look good. No signs of any head trauma, I think you'll be just fine" the Doctor told Louis with a small smile.

Louis, still confused about Harry said, "You know it would've been a whole lot worse if Harry wasn't there. He knocked me out of the way." Troy looked at Doctor Styles recognizing the name, "Harry, your boy?" he asked him. Louis beat the doctor to the question. "Yeah, it was amazing. He got to me so fast, he was nowhere near me".

Louis watched his expression, getting a small smile in return. "Sounds like you were very lucky," he said saying goodbye and walking away. Louis didn't know what to think so he decided to ignore it.

A while later they walked out into the hallways. "I gotta go sign some paperwork, you should call your mother," Troy said looking sheepish. Louis' eyes widened, fuck, he thought. "You told her? She's probably freaking out". He sighed and pulled out his phone, walking away when he saw it.

On the other side of the hall were Doctor Styles, Gemma, and Harry. Louis noticed they were whispering hurriedly and felt like he was intruding. Louis moved back a little when all three turned to look at him, "Can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked Harry, watching the others walk away.

Harry walked over, "what?" he said Looking down at Louis. "How did you get over to me so fast?" Louis said confusingly. Harry looked at him like he was crazy, "I was standing right next to you Louis".

Now Louis knows he hurt himself, but not enough to believe his lie. He shook his head, hardening his eyes. "No, you were next to your car across the lot," Louis knows what he saw, and he knows he's not crazy. Harry let out a breathless chuckle, annoying Louis further. "No, I wasn't".

Louis was ready to pull his hair out, "Yes. You were" he said firmly. Louis noticed Harry looked a little alarmed, he shifted closer, licking his lips. "Louis you're...you hit your head. I think you're confused" Harry said, almost like he was trying to reassure them both.

"I know what I saw", Louis said stepping closer. Harry stepped closer as well, "and what exactly was that?" he said challengingly. Louis liked challenges, after all, he was one. "You stopped the van, you pushed it away with your hand"
