Adrian found himself travelling with Damon Stone to Mount Seleses and he didn't know what to think anymore.

He was continuously pestered with questions that made him wonder why he had escaped just to be tormented by a twenty-three-year-old stranger. Adrian had found himself shaking his head at Damon more then thrice an hour and he certainly did not enjoy the company of his companion.

Adrian had thought of the other man's horse to be quite magnificent with its luscious black coat. Everything immediately changed when he heard the horse's name. The horse stayed magnificent but his image of Damon did not get any better.

"Snowflake"
Adrian snorted.

I know, I know laugh all you want." Damon said but his expression betrayed his offended tone. He thought it was nice to see the other man smile.

Adrian and Damon rode on horse the whole way and Adrian couldn't help but worry about the artifact.

He hadn't understood anything about it except for the fact that when joined with its sister, it would open a gateway to a new world. Everything was confusing.

All he needed was to find Beatrice, maybe she would know more.

Adrian couldn't help but feel a little bitter towards his father. Everything would have been immensely easier if the older man had thought to sit down and converse with his family, same for his mother.

"So your sister, what's she like?" Damon asked while riding beside Adrian on snowflake.

"Her name his Beatrice," Adrian said while recalling about his older sister. "She has these wonderful brown eyes and a smile that could lit up the whole sky. She has been my support beam until four years ago. She is kind and amazing but you do not want to get on her bad side. Bea can be wonderful and fierce at the same time."

"She sounds great." Damon said

"She truly is."

"I noticed to say until four years, you two had a fallout?"

"You could say that," Adrian said.

Damon raised an eyebrow. One thing the 23-year-old had noticed was how great his companion was at giving vague answers. He had no right to comment on that though, Adrian after all was still a stranger.

'Death,' Adrian thought. 'almost seems like the answer to all problems.'
Too bad things never happened to be so simple with Adrian.

He thought of how many times he had tried giving up his life when he was held captive. It never worked. His captors were cruel, they weren't even merciful enough to end his life. Adrian knew he couldn't expect such acts from children murderers.

Adrian remembered the children's screams as they were sacrificed to whoever the Jormundirs worshiped.
He remembered how their faces were stuck in a forever horrified expression and Adrian had stood there unable to do anything.

That was when the 21-year-old was caught.

The man knew one thing, whatever the artifact stood for, whatever the artifact was meant to do, it was clearly related to the Jormundirs and now he was sure that if he was about to do whatever his father wanted him to do, Adrian would have to face his captors again.

That terrified him.

What terrified him worse that he would probably have two more innocent people stuck to danger just because they were near him and related to him.

Adrian knew one thing for sure, he would have to protect Beatrice Miles and Damon Stone. No matter what
