The Watty Awards is our annual celebration of the most loved stories by the community. Over $20,000 will be given out in prizes!
Can you finish a story within a year? Take the challenge and enter the 2012 Watty Awards, everyone has a chance to win as long as you participate! All showcase finalists plus 50 lucky winners (that do not become finalists) will receive prizes.
The Watty Awards is open to all countries and Wattpad members 13 years old and above.
Any story written on or after November 1, 2011 can be entered. Works must be finished and marked as "Complete" by October 31, 2012 at 11:59 PM (Pacific Standard Time).
Stories must be written in English.
All categories are included in the Watty Awards, except for Poetry, Non-Fiction, and Other. Don't worry poets, we are currently working on a contest just for you later on this year!
Any entry under 30 Wattpad pages must be categorized under the Short Story genre.
All entries must be rated PG-13 and below.
How To Enter
Choose "Watty Awards 2012" as one of your categories, and the genre you would like to enter for this year’s Watty Awards.
To allow more people to participate in the Awards, you can only enter at most two stories, and they must be of different genres (For example, "Story A" in Science Fiction, and "Story B" in Adventure).
Genre Awards finalists will be announced for three levels: Most Popular, On the Rise, and Undiscovered.
The levels are determined by:
1) support from fans and other readers
2) the popularity of the story in comparison to other entries
3) the consistency of activity throughout the entire story
There will be a winner for each category level. In other words, each genre category will have three winners (one Popular, one On the Rise, and one Undiscovered)
This year, we will be adding a Super Popular level for more populated genres like Teen Fiction and Romance!
Although we recognize that some stories may contain elements of one or more genres or themes in order to compete in a specific category, a majority of your story must belong to the specific genre you wish to enter. Wattpad has the right to re-categorize or disqualify any story that does not fit these requirements.
Special Awards are creative fun-themed awards that are given out in addition to the Genre Awards.
Each story is only eligible to be nominated for one Special Award. This includes awards for Best Trailer and Best Book Cover.
Tags must be used if you want to nominate your own story. Tagged stories can only be finalists in the Showcase Period through a nomination process. Voters must go to feedback page and choose “Special Awards Nominations” from the drop-down menu and fill out the form. This form will not be available until September 1, 2012.
